Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Aoki Shinya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ed Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ed Martin will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Shinya looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Martin darts in and clinches Shinya up against the ropes.

Martin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Shinya closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Martin wants to stand and escape but Shinya is having none of it.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Shinya is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Martin is defending well though. Shinya let's go of the attempt for now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Shinya goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Martin has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Shinya but great work by Martin.

Shinya gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Shinya manages to get to full guard.
Martin throws a strike but Shinya rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Shinya prevents Martin from getting back to his feet.

Martin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shinya can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Martin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shinya. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Shinya throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Martin works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Shinya is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Martin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Shinya is controlling him.
Shinya passes Martin's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Shinya is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Martin is just riding it out for now. Shinya eventually gives up the hold.

Shinya is looking for a kimura but Martin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Shinya to get the leverage.
