Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Giaus Cassius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Calle Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machida has chosen Hate to say I told you so as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Columbo Gatti and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cassius decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Cassius looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Cassius passes to side control.
Machida is looking to reverse the position.
Machida tries to escape but Cassius is in control.
Cassius is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Machida knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Cassius is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Machida is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Machida is not content to let Cassius control the position.
Cassius moves into full mount!
Machida tries to hold on but Cassius postures up.

Cassius is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Machida can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cassius fails to take his opponent's back.
Cassius wants to finish this one by submission but Machida is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Cassius.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Machida defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Cassius.
Machida is controlling an arm, preventing Cassius from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Machida bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Cassius wants to sweep here but Machida controlling him for the moment.

Cassius looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Cassius throws his legs up looking for a submission but Machida uses it to pass to side control.
Cassius is breathing heavily.
Cassius can't do much from the bottom here.
Cassius is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Cassius is looking to regain half guard here but Machida keeps moving and retains side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cassius gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Cassius wants to get back to full guard but Machida has passed into side control.
Machida really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cassius. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Horrible takedown by Cassius or perhaps it was just good defense by Machida which made him look bad.
Machida is looking to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cassius changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Machida looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Cassius wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Machida, who protects the arm well.

Machida tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Cassius tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cassius has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Cassius wants to control but Machida is keeping him busy.
Cassius working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Cassius thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Machida tries to hold on but Cassius pushes him away.
Cassius is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Cassius!
