PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jean Duc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richtor Schkayle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duc comes into the arena with Cannibal Corpse - blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jean Duc!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richtor Schkayle!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Dean Styles and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schkayle ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Duc moves away.
Duc takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Schkayle throws a looping overhand right but Duc ducks down to avoid it.
Duc uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Schkayle.
Schkayle throws a big shot that misses.
Richtor Schkayle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Schkayle feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Duc's calf.

Duc moves into the clinch.
Duc blocks a punch to the side of the head.
A frustrated look appears on Schkayle's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Schkayle gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Duc.
Duc drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Schkayle gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Duc has Schkayle pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Schkayle manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jean Duc. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A right hook to the body lands for Duc.

Schkayle is fighting off a takedown attempt but Duc is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Schkayle to the mat. Schkayle regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Duc has gone for a leg lock! Schkayle slips out almost immediately though and dives into Duc's guard.

Schkayle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Duc. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Duc is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Schkayle pulls his head out easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Let's hope that Schkayle has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Schkayle looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Schkayle digs a good body shot into Duc's ribs.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Duc ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Schkayle misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Richtor Schkayle dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Schkayle throws a right and a left that Duc avoids nicely.
Schkayle throws a head kick that misses.
Duc moves out of range as Schkayle throws a body kick.
Schkayle misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Duc.
Jean Duc is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Schkayle throws an overhand right that lands on Duc's shoulder, as Duc tries to avoid the shot.
Duc avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Schkayle fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Duc manages to avoid it.
Schkayle tries to land a front kick but Duc steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Duc moves into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Duc scores a nice knee to the body.
Schkayle swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Duc drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Schkayle gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Schkayle swings for the body but Duc moves out of range.
Schkayle pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Duc has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Schkayle avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Duc tries to clinch but Schkayle is having none of it.

The fighters circling - Schkayle throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Duc takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Duc fails in his attempt to clinch.

Duc drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Schkayle gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Duc turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Duc manages to end up in side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Richtor Schkayle showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Schkayle misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Duc.
No joy there for Schkayle, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Schkayle lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Duc circles away quickly and effectively.
Duc avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Duc takes one to the side of the head.
Duc uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Schkayle.
Schkayle is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Duc ducks under a wild hook from Schkayle.
Duc takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Duc clinches up with Schkayle and pushes him back against the cage.
Duc jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Schkayle walks away with a smile on his face. Duc gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Schkayle throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Schkayle tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Duc counters with a single leg into guard. Schkayle didn't expect that.
Schkayle takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Duc is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Schkayle tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Duc throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Duc is looking to work some ground and pound but Schkayle has wrist control.
Schkayle utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Duc cracks Schkayle with a solid left hand.

Duc drops back, looking for a kneebar! Schkayle looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Schkayle looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Schkayle!

Duc is looking to regain half guard here but Schkayle keeps moving and retains side control.
Duc gets back to half guard.

Duc looking for a kimura from the bottom but Schkayle passes into side control!

Duc looking for a sweep but Schkayle has passed into full mount! Oh no!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like Schkayle is going to stand back up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jean Duc.
I think Schkayle has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
