The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cordoba lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Cordoba.
It looks like Cliff Dempsey has been cut.
Cordoba rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dempsey moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Dempsey checks a low kick from Cordoba.
Dempsey tries to close the distance and clinch but Cordoba swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dempsey fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cordoba shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Dempsey won't allow Cordoba to pass to mount.
Dempsey is pressing down on Cordoba's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cordoba closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Cordoba is thwarting Dempsey's attempts to control the position.
Dempsey moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Cordoba prevents Dempsey from getting back to his feet.
Cordoba drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cordoba jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Dempsey not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Dempsey pushes Cordoba off and gets back to his feet.
Dempsey avoids the body shot from Cordoba.
Cordoba misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Dempsey.

Cordoba throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Dempsey.

Dempsey darts in and clinches Cordoba up against the cage.
Dempsey lands a nice shot to the body.
Dempsey tries to score a body lock takedown but Cordoba shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Cordoba jumps guard but Dempsey stands there with Cordoba around his waist. Cordoba gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Cordoba moves into full mount! Dempsey won't be happy about that!
Cordoba is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Dempsey has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Dempsey!
Dempsey is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cordoba is looking to sinch up a triangle. Dempsey throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Cordoba's body to avoid the submission. Cordoba has instead reached around Dempsey's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Cordoba arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
