Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Melton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marques Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Melton comes to the cage accompanied by The Bouncing Souls- The Gold Song. Jackson has chosen Daylight as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Melton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marques Jackson! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson misses with a wild body shot. Melton is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jackson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Jackson gets caught flat footed, as Melton shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Melton wants to stand and escape but instead Jackson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Jackson won't allow Melton to get back to his feet. Jackson postures up in Melton's guard and throws a big left but Melton blocks it. Melton is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Jackson stands up from guard. Let's bang! Jackson is looking to clinch but Melton is avoiding it.
Melton shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jackson as he avoids it easily. Jackson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Melton, pushing him back against the cage. Jackson blocking some punches.
Melton's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Melton fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Melton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Melton lands a right hand. Melton successfully pulls guard.
Jackson stands up from guard. Let's bang! Melton looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Jackson! Melton is breathing heavily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jackson can't escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Melton could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Melton is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Melton tries to stand but can't do so whilst Jackson controls his leg. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Melton is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Jackson has managed to free his arm - good work. Jackson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jackson. Jackson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Melton manages to get himself to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson landing some decent shots from guard. Jackson stands up over Melton, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Melton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Jackson stands up from Melton's guard - Jackson perhaps looking for a knockout. Jackson instigates a clinch. Jackson is trying to break free. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Melton. Jackson manages to break the clinch.

Jackson tries to pass to full mount but Melton defends it. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Jackson lands a nice short elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jackson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Melton does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Jackson stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Melton to get to his feet. Melton has Jackson up against the cage in a clinch.
Jackson gets a trip takedown into half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jackson connects with a nice short shot to Melton's temple. Melton wants to improve his position but Jackson is controlling well.
Melton tries to kick Jackson off in order to stand up. Jackson Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Jackson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Jackson stands up and beckons Melton to his feet. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jackson moves in looking to clinch but Melton pushes him off. Jackson fails with the takedown and Melton counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Melton. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Marques Jackson will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Jackson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Jackson scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Melton with a lazy takedown attempt and Jackson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jackson. Jackson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Jackson pulls Melton into guard.
Melton wanted to stand there but Jackson had control of the position. Jackson is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Melton pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Jackson throws a nice outside leg kick. Jackson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Melton looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Jackson working away diligently from side control. He's persisting with it as Jackson sprawls well. Jackson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Melton gets slowly back to his feet. Jackson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jackson wants it to stay on the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Melton has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Melton shoots in but no luck this time. Jackson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jackson lands a head shot. Melton shoots for a double leg takedown but Jackson sprawls well. He's pushed Melton's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Melton rushes Jackson and presses him up against the cage. Jackson misses with an elbow over the top.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. A short body shot lands from Jackson as the two fighters clinch.

Melton is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jackson is controlling him. Jackson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Melton's guard. Jackson stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Melton on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Melton rushes Jackson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Jackson working some nice short punches in the clinch. Jackson pulls guard. Melton postures up in Jackson's guard and throws a big left but Jackson blocks it. Melton throwing strikes but missing. Marques Jackson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Melton throwing strikes but missing.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Marques Jackson. Well Jackson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
