Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, G B! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Venkman! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! B wants to clinch up but Venkman keeps it at a distance. The fight stays on the outside here - B looks like he's thinking about clinching though. B closes the distance and clinches. B prevents the takedown attempt.
B tries a knee to the head but Venkman blocks it.
B throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. B lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. B is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Venkman is defending well for now. Venkman avoids a wild elbow strike from B. Venkman on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

G B has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Venkman. Venkman wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. B pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. B throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

B lands an elbow that stopped Venkman in his tracks for a moment. Venkman pulls B into guard.
Venkman lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for B! B is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Venkman is going oldschool here, as he tries to force B to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so B shrugs it off. Venkman looks gassed! Venkman trying to control but he's not successful this time. B tries to buck Venkman off but Venkman takes his back! B looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Venkman seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under B's chin but B turns very nicely into Venkman's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by B.
Venkman is looking for a triangle but B pushes his legs off easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Venkman is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and B defends well. B would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Venkman swats away the attempt to clinch by B. Venkman tries to keep at a distance but B has taken the fight into the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that G B will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

It looks like Peter Venkman has been cut. Venkman works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Venkman trying to control but B is working from the bottom. Venkman is breathing heavily. Venkman drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but B manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Venkman has B in his guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Venkman has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. B is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Venkman. B stands up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. B does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. B closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. B comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. B pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. B gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. B using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Venkman has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Venkman wants the takedown. B is fighting it off but Venkman persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in B's guard against the cage. B wants to stand and escape but Venkman is having none of it. Venkman passes B's left leg - he's now in half guard. Venkman is looking to stall here but B recovers full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Venkman looking to sit in guard and control but B gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. B wants to get up but he can't break Venkman's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. B has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Venkman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but B can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
G B dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Peter Venkman's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
B moves in looking to clinch but Venkman pushes him off. B fails in his attempt to clinch. B moves into range and clinches up with Venkman. B is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Venkman is defending well for now. Venkman successfully pulls guard.
Venkman throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! B escapes and throws Venkman's legs to the side, diving into side control! Venkman tries to improve position but can't. Venkman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. B decides to stand back up. B steps back and let's Venkman get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. B moves into the clinch successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. B using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Venkman has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

B lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Venkman jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as B walks away with a smile on his face. Venkman gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. B lunges at Venkman with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Venkman's hand. Venkman ducks under a wild hook from B. Venkman gets cracked with a nice right hand there by B. B throws a big shot that misses. B lets loose with a powerful body kick. Venkman will feel that in the morning. Venkman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. B is trying to stand up here but Venkman is controlling him well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Venkman throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Venkman is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and B defends it well. Venkman stalling away here and it's allowed B to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Venkman prevents B from getting back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Venkman trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Venkman keeps the fight on the outside. B wants to clinch up but Venkman keeps it at a distance. Venkman fails with the takedown. G B has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Venkman. B doesn't manage to clinch there - Venkman circles away.
Peter Venkman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. B clinches. Venkman can't get the takedown.
G B is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Venkman takes an elbow to the forehead.
And that's the end of the fight! G B showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for B, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
