Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Walter Carvalho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Raskolnikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Raskolnikov has chosen Pendulum as his entrance music. Vladimir Raskolnikov has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Walter Carvalho's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Walter Carvalho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Raskolnikov!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Illya Tyunina and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Raskolnikov fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Carvalho, pushing him back against the cage.
Carvalho tries to break the clinch but Raskolnikov is controlling the position.

Raskolnikov has Carvalho pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Raskolnikov pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Carvalho tumbling to the mat - Raskolnikov dives into Carvalho's guard.
Raskolnikov wants to stand but Carvalho has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Carvalho throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Carvalho is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Raskolnikov is aware though and is defending well.

Carvalho working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Raskolnikov has passed into half guard!
Raskolnikov is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Carvalho has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Carvalho flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Raskolnikov wants to stand up but Carvalho is controlling the position.
Still in half guard, Raskolnikov seems content to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Carvalho wants to control but Raskolnikov is having none of it.

Carvalho sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Carvalho is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Raskolnikov's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Raskolnikov's back!

Carvalho is trying to control. Raskolnikov wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carvalho tries to free his leg and advance position but Raskolnikov is retaining full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Carvalho drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Raskolnikov manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Carvalho has Raskolnikov in his guard.

Raskolnikov gets to his feet - Carvalho follows without any prompting.

Raskolnikov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Carvalho sprawls well initially but Raskolnikov persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Carvalho wants to control but Raskolnikov is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Raskolnikov is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Carvalho wants to clinch but Raskolnikov slips to the side

and Raskolnikov counters with a takedown into side control.
Raskolnikov is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Carvalho's shoulder. That is not cool.
Carvalho is trying to get back to half guard.
Carvalho can't do much from the bottom here.

Let's hope that Raskolnikov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Raskolnikov gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Carvalho tries to pull guard but Raskolnikov holds him up against the cage and eventually Carvalho drops back down to his feet.
Raskolnikov lands an elbow just above Carvalho 's eye.

Raskolnikov tightens his grip and picks Carvalho up, before dumping him to the ground. Carvalho manages to land in guard.

Raskolnikov is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Carvalho!

Carvalho lands with a hook. Raskolnikov tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Raskolnikov stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Carvalho to get to his feet.
Carvalho doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Raskolnikov counters with a shoot takedown. Carvalho fights it but they end up in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Carvalho isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Raskolnikov stacks Carvalho on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Raskolnikov!
Carvalho tries to buck Raskolnikov off but Raskolnikov is having none of it.

Vladimir Raskolnikov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
