Liddell's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Ultimate Fighter. Earl Bennet has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Forrest Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Earl Bennet!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Lou da Vinci and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddell lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Liddell.
Liddell looks for the body kick but Bennet saw that one coming.
Good standup being displayed there by Liddell as he connects with a hook.
Bennet is trying hard to land a takedown here. Liddell sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Bennet moves out of range as Liddell throws a body kick.
Liddell lands a jab to Bennet's midsection.
Liddell throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Liddell lands with an uppercut that bounces Bennet off the cage and back into rage.
Nice shot lands for Liddell.
Liddell moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like Earl Bennet has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bennet shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Bennet was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Bennet pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Bennet throwing strikes here but Liddell is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Bennet lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.


It looks like Forrest Liddell has been cut.
Liddell wants to try and get back to his feet.
Liddell tries to lock up and control but Bennet gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bennet with good strikes from the mount here!
Bennet putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Poor strikes thrown by Bennet there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Forrest Liddell's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Bennet is landing with some decent strikes but Liddell is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.


Jeez, Forrest Liddell's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Forrest Liddell's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Earl Bennet!
