PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fedor Faber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oscar Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fedor Faber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Oscar Silva!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Edson Gomes and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Faber drives through and clinches with Silva against the cage.
Silva unloads a knee to the mid-section. Faber lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Silva goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Silva jumps into guard, dragging Faber to the mat.
Faber wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.
Silva throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Silva uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Silva lands with a kick to the ribs.
Faber fails with an attempt to clinch.
Faber fails to land the takedown.
Faber throws out a loose jab but Silva uses good head movement to avoid it.

Faber has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Faber is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva throws a body punch but Faber moves out of range.
Faber tries to clinch but Silva is having none of it.

Silva fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Faber sprawls well initially but Silva persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Faber is trying to maintain the position but Silva is very close to passing his half guard.
Silva scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Well, if Silva is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Silva passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Faber!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva controlling the pace for now.
Silva landing strikes from the mount and Faber is in trouble!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Faber tries to hold on but Silva pushes him away.
Faber is looking to improve his position but Silva isn't that keen on the idea.
Silva is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Silva looking to control but Faber is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Faber is wriggling around trying to escape.
Silva lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Silva won't let Faber get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Faber wants to hold on but Silva pushes him away.
Faber might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Faber is trying desperately to improve position.
Silva is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Faber can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Faber tries to lock up and control but Silva gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Faber is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Silva has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Faber's face.


Faber is rocked!
Silva scoring with strikes but Faber is staying in there.
Oh Faber is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Silva controlling the position easily from mount.
Silva looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Silva working for a submission but Faber is keeping him at bay.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Silva lands with some strikes.
Faber tries to lock up and control but Silva gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Silva lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Faber takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Silva has hold of Faber's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Faber manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oscar Silva dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Silva dances in with a quick combination. Faber is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Silva snaps Faber's head back. Faber stumbles backwards against the cage. Silva steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Faber's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Faber just didn't come prepared.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Oscar Silva!
