Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mayron Rocha! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chris Dubois! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rocha blocks a head kick by Dubois.
Dubois closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Dubois looking to slow down the pace here. Rocha avoiding damage as Dubois throws knees to the body.

Rocha shoots for a double leg takedown but Dubois sprawls well. He's pushed Rocha's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Rocha dodges the punch combination from Dubois.
Rocha closes the distance but Dubois moves to the side and Dubois counters with a slapping leg kick. Dubois misses with a takedown attempt and Rocha counters with a shoot takedown. Dubois fights it but they end up in guard. Rocha wants to stand but Dubois is controlling his posture from full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rocha seems content to control from guard here. Dubois gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Rocha counters with a takedown into side control. Dubois is pushing Rocha's head away, looking to escape. Rocha manages to hold on to the position though. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dubois can do anything to dispel that myth. Rocha tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Dubois wants to get back to his feet but Rocha drags him back down.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rocha tries to score with some ground and pound. Dubois controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Dubois tries to escape but Rocha is in control. The strikes coming from Rocha are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Dubois prevents Rocha from moving into mount.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Dubois throws a series of punches but Rocha moves out of range. Dubois fails with the takedown and Rocha counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rocha. Mayron Rocha has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Dubois. Dubois looks gassed! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Dubois is working an open guard so Rocha takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Dubois scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Dubois pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Rocha has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Mayron Rocha dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Rocha's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rocha is defended easily by Dubois. Rocha blocks a head kick by Dubois.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rocha looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dubois is fending him off so far but Rocha persists. Nope, Dubois circles away and we're back to standing. Dubois misses with a takedown and Rocha counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dubois won't be happy with that. Rocha misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Rocha unloading with bombs! Dubois is squirming around, avoiding Rocha's attempts to control the action. Rocha is really struggling to control Dubois but he's trying to hold on to the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Mayron Rocha showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rocha, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
