Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Noah Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dallas Gillespie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Gillespie's choice of entrance music: Go to sleep bit**. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Noah Diaz! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dallas Gillespie! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Seu Braga and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gillespie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Diaz pinned against the cage. Diaz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Gillespie tries to clinch but Diaz moves out of range. Diaz connects with a good right hand that stumbles Gillespie. Gillespie circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Gillespie throws a head kick that half lands.
It looks like Noah Diaz has been cut. Gillespie takes one to the side of the head.
Diaz looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Gillespie showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Diaz.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Diaz with a nice head shot there. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Diaz throws a big right hand that misses. Diaz landing some decent shots from guard. Diaz working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Diaz scoring with punches to the head and body. Diaz trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Diaz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gillespie works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Diaz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Diaz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Gillespie manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Diaz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gillespie is one step ahead there. Diaz keeping full guard, as Gillespie tries to pass. Gillespie passes Diaz's left leg - he's now in half guard. Gillespie is trying to control the action in half guard but Diaz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gillespie looks gassed! Diaz is trying to maintain the position but Gillespie is very close to passing his half guard. Diaz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gillespie's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gillespie's back! Diaz landing with strikes. Diaz is hanging on to Gillespie's back as he tries to escape.

Gillespie is rocked! Gillespie defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Diaz's arms. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Gillespie is trying to break free.
Gillespie rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Diaz prevents Gillespie from improving his position. Diaz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gillespie with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Gillespie looking for submissions off his back. Gillespie makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gillespie. Gillespie throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Gillespie looking to control.
Diaz stands and throws Gillespie's legs to the side, diving into side control. Gillespie takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Diaz lands a nice forearm strike. Diaz lands a decent elbow from side control. Gillespie is still in real trouble! Can Diaz finish him? Diaz cracks Gillespie with an elbow. That is naaassty. Gillespie is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Diaz lands a few punches from side control. Diaz advances to mount. Diaz cracks Gillespie with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Diaz lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Diaz lands a big shot there that rocks Gillespie but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Diaz has isolated one of Gillespie's arms. Gillespie looking to fight him off but Diaz twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Noah Diaz! Noah Diaz retains his welterweight title!
