Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aegil Gunderson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas Matias! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matias shoots for a double leg takedown but Gunderson sprawls well. He's pushed Matias's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Gunderson drives through with a takedown into guard. Gunderson is looking to work some ground and pound but Matias has wrist control. Gunderson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Gunderson won't allow Matias to sweep him here. Matias trying to keep a closed guard but Gunderson is proving a slippery customer.
Matias escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gunderson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Matias tries to strike from the bottom.

Gunderson drops an elbow to the side of Matias's head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gunderson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Gunderson scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Gunderson working the head and body with strikes. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Gunderson is thwarting Matias's attempts to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matias is staying active underneath Gunderson, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Matias has a hand on Gunderson's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Gunderson takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Matias is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Matias is rocked! Gunderson cracks Matias with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Matias is still in real trouble! Can Gunderson finish him? Matias swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Matias seems to have recovered his senses. Gunderson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Gunderson with the ground and pound from mount. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Gunderson with the ground and pound from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Gunderson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
