The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Althea closes the distance and clinches up with Emelianenko, looking for a takedown. Althea pushes Emelianenko against the cage but Emelianenko circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alexandros Althea. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Althea, as that shot connected.

Althea wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Emelianenko, who protects the arm well.

Althea is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Emelianenko is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Althea works to advance to full mount. Emelianenko defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Emelianenko takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Althea has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Emelianenko's face.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Althea is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Emelianenko to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Emelianenko shrugs it off.

Althea knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Emelianenko on the ground.

Emelianenko takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Althea's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
