Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between CHUCCK Lidell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Payne has chosen My last Serenade as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, CHUCCK Lidell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Payne! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lidell stuffs the takedown. A head kick misses from Lidell. Payne fails with the takedown. Lidell keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. CHUCCK Lidell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Payne. No luck for Payne with that takedown attempt. Payne fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lidell avoids it really well and circles away. Lidell darts in and clinches Payne up against the cage. Payne tries to pull guard but Lidell holds him up against the cage and eventually Payne drops back down to his feet.
Payne has Lidell pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Lidell manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Payne drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lidell pulls his leg out and moves away.
Lidell wants to clinch up but Payne keeps it at a distance. Lidell misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lidell throws a series of punches but Payne moves out of range. Left hook, right uppercut from Lidell. Lidell tries to clinch up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Payne fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lidell, pushing him back against the cage. Payne tries for a takedown. No joy.
Payne wants to break free but Lidell has control.
Payne working hard to break the clinch. Lidell lands a left hand that snaps the head of Payne backwards. Payne looks gassed! Lidell will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Payne up against the cage. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Lidell lands a takedown into guard.
Lidell looking to sit in guard and control but Payne gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Payne throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Lidell on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Lidell tries to get out of the position. Lidell throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Lidell holds on and takes a little breather. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Payne accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Payne trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Lidell is looking to stand up but Payne isn't so interested in that idea. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Payne trying to control but Lidell is working from the bottom.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Lidell wants to clinch up but Payne keeps it at a distance. Lidell stalks Payne and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Payne's face. Payne staggers backwards, shaken. Payne shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lidell as he avoids it easily. Payne darts in trying to clinch and Lidell counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lidell. Payne jumps guard and drags Lidell to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Lidell trying to control the position from guard on top but Payne is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lidell is looking to stand up but Payne won't let him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Payne wriggles free and stands up. Lidell closes the distance and clinches. Lidell tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Payne smiles and moves away.
Payne wants to clinch but Lidell slips to the side and Lidell counters with a left and a right that stings Payne. Lidell throws a head kick but Payne moves out of range.
Payne doesn't succeed with the takedown and Lidell counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lidell. Payne can't get the takedown.
Payne is trying to maintain a safe position but Lidell gets an underhook and turns Payne into the cage. Lidell pulls guard effortlessly. Payne trying to control the position from guard on top but Lidell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Payne avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Payne won't allow Lidell to get back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Payne forces his way into half guard. Payne is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Payne lands a nice short elbow. Well, if Payne is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Payne is stalling here. Lidell is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Payne seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Lidell has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
CHUCCK Lidell dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Payne closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Payne jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lidell walks away with a smile on his face. Payne gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Lidell rushes Payne and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Payne is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Lidell gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Payne fails to pull the fight into his guard.
CHUCCK Lidell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Payne. Lidell drags the fight down to the ground.
Payne slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Payne trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Lidell throws a head kick that half lands.
Payne is looking to clinch. Payne tries for a takedown but Lidell circles away easily and Lidell counters with a head kick. That will keep Payne thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Lidell is looking to clinch but Payne is avoiding it.
Payne shoots and misses and Lidell finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Lidell throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Payne. A head kick misses from Lidell. Payne gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Lidell counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Payne is lucky that one didn't land flush. Lidell pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Payne darts in trying to clinch and Lidell counters with a low kick, right behind Payne 's knee.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Payne has his takedown stuffed and Lidell counters with a head kick. That will keep Payne thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Lidell lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. John Payne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Payne wants to clinch and Lidell counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Payne pulls guard effortlessly. Lidell in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Lidell looking to sit in guard and control but Payne gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Lidell working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Payne doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Payne manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lidell is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Lidell being controlled here, momentarily. Payne has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Payne loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Payne trying to control the position from guard on top but Lidell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Payne looking to control the position here, rather than advance. That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Payne throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lidell works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Lidell taking some punishment here, with Payne in his half guard. Lidell is trying to get back to full guard. Lidell has hold of Payne's hands but Payne slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Payne stalling. Payne is looking to take a break and control but Lidell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but John Payne will probably get the nod - 10:9. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Payne tries to land a sweep but no joy. Payne is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Lidell holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Payne keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Lidell controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Lidell keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lidell tries to get to full guard but Payne has control of the leg. Payne is trying to control. Lidell wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Lidell wants to control but Payne is keeping busy.

Payne's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Lidell stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lidell wants it to stay on the feet. Payne closes the distance and clinches up with Lidell, looking for a takedown. Payne pushes Lidell against the cage but Lidell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Payne closes the distance and clinches. Lidell ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lidell no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Lidell is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Payne gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Lidell regains guard.
Lidell is adopting a defensive guard. Lidell is trying to keep Payne in close.
Payne is working Lidell over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to John Payne. I think Payne has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
