PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matt Vipers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lag Guti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lag Guti will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Guti shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Vipers gets back to full guard.
Guti trying to control the position from guard on top but Vipers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Guti with a flurry of punches that miss.
Guti is looking to work some ground and pound but Vipers has wrist control.
Guti looking to pass the guard.
Guti stops Vipers from standing up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vipers manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Guti manages to get himself to full guard.
Vipers postures up.
Vipers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Guti swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Vipers thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Vipers wants to control from the top but Guti keeps moving.
Vipers tries to free his leg and advance position but Guti is retaining full guard.
Guti is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Vipers slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Vipers goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Guti has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Vipers but great work by Guti.
Vipers is breathing heavily.
Guti wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vipers keeps working.

Guti thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Vipers wants to control but Guti postures up.
Vipers is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Guti working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Guti goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Vipers has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Guti but great work by Vipers.

Vipers is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Guti is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Vipers tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Vipers is working to tighten is grip on Guti's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Guti has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Vipers is really squeezing tight and eventually Guti passes out! Vipers breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
