PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Dulin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pino Scintilla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Dulin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pino Scintilla!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Dmitry Maklakov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scintilla fails in his attempt to clinch.

Dulin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Dulin trying to control but Scintilla is working from the bottom.

Scintilla is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Dulin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Scintilla swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Scintilla manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Dulin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Scintilla on the ground.
Dulin throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Dulin is looking to get to half guard.

Scintilla sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Dulin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Scintilla looking to control but Dulin is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Scintilla tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
Dulin is trying desperately to improve position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Dulin wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Scintilla looking for the choke but no joy.
Scintilla is looking to control Dulin but Dulin is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Scintilla struggling to keep hold of the position.
Dulin trying to get back to his feet but Scintilla is in full control for now.

Scintilla is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Dulin has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Scintilla is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Scintilla looks gassed!
I really don't envy Dulin right now.
Dulin looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Scintilla has the hooks in. Dulin is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Scintilla is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dulin wants to escape the position.
Dulin wants to get back to his feet.
Dulin just trying to survive but Scintilla is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Scintilla controlling the positon.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pino Scintilla dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Dulin closes the distance looking to clinch

and Scintilla counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Dulin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Dulin tries to get out of the position.
Scintilla trying to control but Dulin is working from the bottom.
Dulin looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Dulin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Scintilla looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Scintilla stands up and waves to Dulin to follow him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Scintilla stuffs the takedown attempt from Dulin. Dulin gets slowly back to his feet.
Scintilla closes the distance but Dulin moves to the side

and Dulin moves into the clinch.
Scintilla is trying to drag Dulin to the mat but Dulin just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Scintilla has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Dulin clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Scintilla has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Dulin has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Scintilla throwing wild punches that miss their target.
Dulin is keeping busy.
Dulin is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Scintilla wants to control but Dulin is keeping busy.
Dulin is trying to break free.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dulin trying to control the action but Scintilla just sinks the hooks in.
Dulin wants to escape the position.
Dulin is covering up but some of the strikes from Scintilla are getting through and doing damage.
Scintilla trying to control momentarily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dulin manages to reverse the position and now he's in Scintilla's guard. Nice work there by Dulin.
Scintilla keeping moving, preventing Dulin from controlling successfully.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Scintilla darts in trying to clinch
and Dulin counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Dulin has taken the fight to the clinch.
Dulin on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Scintilla has Dulin pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Dulin manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Dulin lands on the inside with an uppercut.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pino Scintilla showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Dulin has managed to clinch.
Dulin is trying to force a seperation but Scintilla has the dominant position.
Dulin lands a hook that snaps the head of Scintilla backwards.
Scintilla has Dulin pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Dulin manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Scintilla displaying some good clinch control by pressing Dulin up against the cage.

Scintilla ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Scintilla no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dulin stands up from Scintilla's guard - Dulin perhaps looking for a knockout.
Some wild striking there from Dulin.
Ivan Dulin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Dulin scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Dulin working over Scintilla with some ground and pound. Scintilla looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Scintilla tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Scintilla punching from the bottom.
Dulin trying to mount his opponent but Scintilla defends it.
Scintilla wants to control but Dulin is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Dulin seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Scintilla is looking to control Dulin's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Scintilla avoid being mounted?
Scintilla is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Dulin is staying active.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Scintilla clinches but Dulin breaks the clinch

and Dulin moves into the clinch.
Dulin misses with an elbow over the top.
Scintilla gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Dulin.
Scintilla drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Dulin gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Dulin using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Scintilla has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Dulin presses Scintilla against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Scintilla fails to pull guard.
Ivan Dulin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pino Scintilla.
Scintilla drops down looking for an ankle pick but Dulin pulls his leg out and moves away.

Dulin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Scintilla to the mat! Scintilla manages to get full guard.
Scintilla keeping moving, preventing Dulin from controlling successfully.
Dulin postures up.
Pino Scintilla has got the better of the ground game so far.

Dulin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Scintilla dives on top into guard.
Dulin is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Dulin is looking to stand up but Scintilla isn't so interested in that idea.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dulin is on top in guard.
Scintilla is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ivan Dulin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Pino Scintilla is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Scintilla avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ivan Dulin showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Scintilla has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
