Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between frank friday (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). friday has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, David Smith! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Steven Brown and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith throws a push kick but friday slaps the foot to one side. Smith rushes friday and presses him up against the cage. Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
friday wants to clinch but Smith slips to the side and Smith counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Smith. Smith successfully pulls guard.
friday wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving. Smith is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smith can do anything to dispel that myth. friday is breathing heavily. Smith manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. friday manages to get himself to full guard.

friday has his takedown stuffed and Smith counters with a takedown into side control. Smith decides to take the fight back to the feet. Smith clinches with his opponent.

Horrible takedown by Smith or perhaps it was just good defense by friday which made him look bad. frank friday has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Smith. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Smith shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. friday manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Smith looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Smith is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

He's managed it - he's now in full mount! friday taking shots to the head. Smith punishing his opponent with strikes. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Smith sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. friday can't escape the position.

Smith shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has friday pinned against the cage. friday gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. frank friday has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Smith decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with friday. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. friday is trying to get back to full guard. David Smith is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
