Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fabio Melo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Lawrence (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabio Melo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcus Lawrence! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Felipe Paraventi and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Melo misses with a low kick.
Melo showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lawrence.
Lawrence stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lawrence wants it to stay on the feet. Lawrence avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Melo moves forwards but Lawrence connects with a nice, crisp jab. Lawrence throws out a loose jab but Melo uses good head movement to avoid it. Lawrence changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. A nice inside leg kick there by Melo. That's going to slow Lawrence down. Marcus Lawrence seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Melo tries to clinch up but Lawrence circles away and keeps his distance. Lawrence throws a body punch but Melo moves out of range. Melo closes the distance and clinches up with Lawrence, looking for a takedown. Melo pushes Lawrence against the cage but Lawrence circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Melo tries to work over Lawrence's front leg with a kick but Lawrence checks it. Lawrence lands with an uppercut that bounces Melo off the cage and back into rage. Melo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fabio Melo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lawrence shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Lawrence is figuring out what he wants to do next. Lawrence is looking to take a break and control but Melo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Melo looking for submissions off his back. Melo looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Melo actively working from the bottom here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Melo looking for submissions off his back. Melo is breathing heavily. Lawrence takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. I looks like Lawrence might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Melo looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Melo walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Lawrence lands the left hand. Lawrence cracks Melo with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Lawrence scores with a jab. Melo acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Lawrence lands a nice shot that snaps Melo's head back.
Melo is rocked! Melo walks straight into a right hand from Lawrence - that's dropped him! Lawrence jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Melo from any more punishment! Melo complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
