Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Iswandi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arthur Mekhontsev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Iswandi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Arthur Mekhontsev!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Iswandi.
Iswandi dives in and grabs Mekhontsev's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mekhontsev pushes down on Iswandi's head and hops out.

Mekhontsev shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Iswandi is in all sorts of trouble here.
Mekhontsev lands a big elbow.
Mekhontsev tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Mekhontsev can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Iswandi is looking to escape.

Mekhontsev wants to control the pace but Iswandi is squirming around nicely.

Mekhontsev scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Iswandi is bucking up trying to escape but Mekhontsev cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Iswandi tries to lock up and control but Mekhontsev gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Mekhontsev swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Iswandi is now in Mekhontsev's guard. A big mistake from Mekhontsev there, giving up the dominant position!
Mekhontsev bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Iswandi's guard.

Mekhontsev gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Mekhontsev fails with the takedown

and Iswandi counters with a shoot takedown. Mekhontsev fights it but they end up in guard.
Iswandi is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Iswandi wants to control from the top but Mekhontsev keeps moving.
Mekhontsev bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Iswandi's guard.
Iswandi throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Iswandi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mekhontsev can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mekhontsev is looking to advance position but Iswandi has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Mekhontsev gets back to half guard.
Mekhontsev wants to get back to full guard.
Mekhontsev has hold of Iswandi's hands but Iswandi slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Iswandi works his foot free and advances to mount.
Mekhontsev is wriggling around trying to escape.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Iswandi avoids the attempt from Mekhontsev to control.
Iswandi with shots to the head and body - Mekhontsev looks very uncomfortable down there.
Mekhontsev manages to control the position for a moment.
Iswandi lands with some strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Iswandi wants to control the pace but Mekhontsev is squirming around nicely.
Mekhontsev keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Arthur Mekhontsev dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Iswandi closes the distance and clinches.
Mekhontsev has a couple of punches blocked by Iswandi.
Iswandi tries for a takedown but Mekhontsev manages to get underhooks.
Iswandi stalling in the clinch.
Mekhontsev lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Mekhontsev gets control of Iswandi's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mekhontsev will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Mekhontsev wants to stand up but Iswandi is controlling him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Iswandi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mekhontsev swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mekhontsev holds on and takes a little breather.
Mekhontsev wants to sweep but no luck.
Mekhontsev is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Mekhontsev scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Mekhontsev instigates a clinch.
A looping hook to the body misses from Iswandi. Mekhontsev does a little dance to reset his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mekhontsev closes the distance looking to clinch

and Iswandi counters by clinching up.

Iswandi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mekhontsev shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Iswandi counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Iswandi.
Iswandi is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Iswandi wanted to stand there but Mekhontsev had control of the position.

Iswandi makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Mekhontsev wants to sweep here but Iswandi controlling him for the moment.
Iswandi wants to control from the top but Mekhontsev keeps moving.

Iswandi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mekhontsev manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Iswandi has Mekhontsev in his guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mekhontsev gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

and Iswandi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mekhontsev won't be happy with that.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Iswandi dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Mekhontsev tries to close the distance and clinch up but Iswandi swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Mekhontsev bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Mekhontsev stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Matt Iswandi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Iswandi closes the distance and clinches up with Mekhontsev, looking for a takedown. Iswandi pushes Mekhontsev against the cage but Mekhontsev circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Mekhontsev breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mekhontsev shoots for a double leg takedown but Iswandi sprawls well. He's pushed Mekhontsev's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Iswandi doesn't manage to clinch there - Mekhontsev circles away.
Mekhontsev tries to clinch but Iswandi moves out of range.

Mekhontsev moves into the clinch successfully.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Iswandi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Iswandi gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mekhontsev to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Iswandi is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mekhontsev is controlling him.

Mekhontsev is thwarting Iswandi's attempts to control the position.
Arthur Mekhontsev has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mekhontsev landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Mekhontsev prevents Iswandi from improving his position.
Iswandi has hold of Mekhontsev's hands but Mekhontsev slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Iswandi is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Mekhontsev scores with a couple of nice shots.
Mekhontsev looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Iswandi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Iswandi is working an open guard so Mekhontsev takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Mekhontsev shoots in for a double leg but Iswandi sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Iswandi lands with a nice body kick.

Iswandi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mekhontsev was covering up waiting for the punch and Iswandi finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Iswandi advances to half guard.
Iswandi moves into full mount! Mekhontsev won't be happy about that!
Mekhontsev tries to reverse the position but Iswandi maintains control.
Iswandi tries to control but Mekhontsev wriggling away.
Mekhontsev is looking to improve his position but Iswandi isn't that keen on the idea.

And that's the end of the fight!
Arthur Mekhontsev comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mekhontsev has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
