The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Locke throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Locke moves out of range of the strikes.
Locke rushes Virta and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Locke breaks the clinch.
A punch combination from Locke misses.
Virta fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
John Locke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Virta misses with the combination.
Locke dives in and grabs Virta's left leg, looking for a takedown. Virta pushes down on Locke's head and hops out.
Virta misses with a wild combination.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Virta dodges the punch combination from Locke.
Virta throws an overhand right that lands on Locke's shoulder, as Locke tries to avoid the shot.
Virta misses with a looping left.
Locke falls off balance throwing a combination
and Virta counters with a left to the body.
Virta tests Locke's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Locke takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Locke looks gassed!
Virta cracks Locke with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Locke looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Virta finish him?
Locke is rocked!
Virta lands with a big right hook that stumbles Locke - he's out on his feet here! Virta follows up with another monster hook that separates Locke from consciousness! Locke falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Virta stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Ara Virta!
