Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Lima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Dai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dai has chosen Dignity as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Lima! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Dai! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Felipe Paraventi and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lima throws a hook but Dai blocks it. Lima displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dai. Dai tries for a takedown but Lima sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Lima shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Dai napping and manages to drive through into side control! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Dai tries to improve position but can't. Lima moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Dai tries to bench press Lima off him but Lima keeps the position. Dai regains half guard. Lima is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Dai wants to improve his position but Lima is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round. Lima will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Dai gets back to full guard.

Lima defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Dai's arms. Lima wants to escape the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Lima rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Lima tries to get to full guard but Dai has control of the leg. Dai wants to pass the guard but Lima is defending well. Dai is working for a kimura but Lima is defending it quite comfortably.

Lima works his way to full guard. Good work. Dai thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Lima managing to control the position. Lima keeping full guard, as Dai tries to pass. Lima trying to control the position here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lima's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Dai pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lima is keeping the position for now. Lima has his hands on Dai's head, controlling the position. Dai stopping the sweep attempt from Lima. Lima pulls Dai in close to prevent any damage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Lima wants to sweep here but Dai controlling him for the moment. Lima closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dai to the mat! Dai manages to get full guard. Dai is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lima defends well. Lima working over Dai with some ground and pound. Dai looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Lima knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dai on the ground. Dai is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Lima scores with a couple of nice shots. Dai tries to roll over but Lima keeps him under control. Lima takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Dai is trying to control but can't.

Dai gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Lima connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Lima throws a low kick, looking for Dai's leg but Dai calmly moves out of range. Dai fails with the takedown and Lima counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Dai's guard now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dai avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Dai takes one on the chin but seems OK.

It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lima defends it well. Carlos Lima overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Lima holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Dai wants to pass to mount but Lima is defending the position. Dai seems to be looking for submissions.
