Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kizzy Suzuki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Paulson! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Shimada and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Suzuki slips under a jab. Paulson throws a body punch but Suzuki moves out of range. Suzuki throws a shot from downtown. Paulson moves away and avoids it. A swing and a miss from Suzuki. Paulson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Suzuki avoids it really well and circles away. The crowd cheers as Suzuki lands an impressive looking overhand right. Paulson doesn't seem phased though. Paulson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. A shot to de liver by Paulson. Beautiful body shot. Suzuki lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
It looks like John Paulson has been cut. Suzuki gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Paulson to score an easy takedown into full guard. Suzuki trying to control the position here. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Paulson forces his way into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paulson trying to control from half guard but Suzuki is working away. Paulson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Paulson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Suzuki has hold of Paulson's hands but Paulson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Suzuki avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Paulson.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Suzuki wants to control but Paulson is keeping busy and won't allow it. Paulson tries to pass to full mount but Suzuki defends it. Paulson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Paulson sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Suzuki defending well though. Suzuki is looking to improve his position.
Paulson with the ground and pound but Suzuki uses the opportunity to regain guard. Paulson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Paulson with a nice cross. Paulson throws the left hand but Suzuki avoids the punch easily. John Paulson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Suzuki lands with a nice combination. Paulson backs away looking to recover. Paulson scores with a jab to the body. Paulson lands a jab to the head.
Suzuki lands a jab-cross combination. Suzuki rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Paulson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Nice uppercut there from Suzuki. Suzuki scores with a nice strike. Paulson scores with a punch to the head. Paulson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Suzuki pinned against the cage. Suzuki gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Suzuki stalks Paulson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Paulson's face. Paulson staggers backwards, shaken. Paulson looks gassed! Suzuki keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Paulson. Suzuki throws a jab when Paulson was well out of range. Kizzy Suzuki is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Suzuki lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Suzuki keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Suzuki blocks a jab. Suzuki throws a shot to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Suzuki lands with a right that hurts Paulson. Paulson looks to clinch but Suzuki throws a short knee that drops Paulson. This one is all over!
