Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lyoto Mochida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matias Eskelinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Matias Eskelinen!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mochida closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Eskelinen tries to pull guard but Mochida won't allow it.
Mochida lands an elbow that stopped Eskelinen in his tracks for a moment.
Eskelinen drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mochida gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Mochida tries to pull guard but Eskelinen won't allow it.

Mochida has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Eskelinen uses from the top position.
Mochida wants to stand but Eskelinen is controlling the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Mochida shoots in looking for a takedown. Eskelinen tries to sprawl out of it but Mochida keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Eskelinen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lyoto Mochida is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mochida throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Mochida keeps the fight on the outside.
Mochida wants to clinch up but Eskelinen keeps it at a distance.

Eskelinen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Mochida tries to buck Eskelinen off but Eskelinen is having none of it.
Mochida knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Eskelinen on the ground.
A lull in the action here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Eskelinen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mochida keeps working.
Eskelinen lands some shots froms side control.

Eskelinen is trying to get an arm triangle but Mochida is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Eskelinen tries to advance position but instead Mochida slips a leg back in to half guard.

Eskelinen wants to stand but Mochida has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Mochida is trying to stand up here but Eskelinen is controlling him well.
Mochida tries to roll over but Eskelinen keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Eskelinen is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Mochida!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Eskelinen is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Mochida is surviving well by controlling Eskelinen's body position as best he can.
Eskelinen is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mochida can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Eskelinen is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Mochida has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Mochida!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Matias Eskelinen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Nice takedown defense from Mochida. No joy for Eskelinen on that attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mochida looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Eskelinen jumps into guard, dragging Mochida to the mat.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mochida wants to get up but he can't break Eskelinen's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Eskelinen is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Eskelinen is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Eskelinen is looking to break free of the clinch but Mochida has double underhooks.
Eskelinen tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Mochida lands a hook that snaps the head of Eskelinen backwards.

Mochida breaks the clinch.
Eskelinen has a takedown stuffed.
Lyoto Mochida has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matias Eskelinen.
Mochida throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Eskelinen crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Mochida - the referee stops the clock and Eskelinen gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Mochida. Eskelinen manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Mochida fails with an attempt to clinch.

Mochida darts in and clinches Eskelinen up against the cage.

Eskelinen has had enough of the clinch but Mochida keeps him there for the moment.
Mochida effectively controlling the action here.
Mochida really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Mochida pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Eskelinen shoots in for a takedown but Mochida shows good takedown defense.
Mochida dives in and grabs Eskelinen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Eskelinen pushes down on Mochida's head and hops out.
Mochida is looking to clinch.
Mochida throws a head kick but Eskelinen moves out of range.
Mochida takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

and Mochida moves into the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mochida tries to pull guard but Eskelinen won't allow it.
Eskelinen fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Mochida is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Mochida throws a knee to the head but misses.

Eskelinen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Eskelinen misses with a series of wild punches.

Mochida gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Eskelinen trying to control but Mochida is working from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Matias Eskelinen.
I've got Eskelinen winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
