Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Juvius Ledford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hakim Hamsho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hamsho comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Jump Around kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Juvius Ledford!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hakim Hamsho!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ledford tries to clinch there but Hamsho circles away.

Hamsho closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hamsho lands in his opponent's guard.
Ledford not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Ledford is really struggling to control Hamsho but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Hamsho is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Hamsho in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hamsho working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Ledford keeping full guard, as Hamsho tries to pass.
Hamsho throwing strikes but missing.
Ledford throwing rabbit punches from the bottom - showing the judges that he's keeping busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ledford gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Hamsho counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Ledford thinking.
Ledford showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hamsho.
Ledford shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hamsho counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Hamsho drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hamsho works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
The strikes coming from Hamsho are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Hamsho decides to stand back up.
Ledford is breathing heavily.

Hamsho fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ledford sprawls well initially but Hamsho persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hamsho is looking to take a break and control but Ledford is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ledford tries to roll over but Hamsho keeps him under control.
Hamsho is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Hamsho is taking a breather. Ledford says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hamsho has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Hamsho landing strikes from the mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hamsho is landing with some decent strikes but Ledford is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hamsho lands a nice shot to the head.
Hamsho postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Ledford looks a forlorn figure.

Ledford has left one of his arms exposed and Hamsho doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Ledford screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Hakim Hamsho!
