Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roderick Edwards! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Diaz! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz misses with a series of wild punches.
Diaz shoots in for a double leg but Edwards sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Edwards feints and as Diaz raises his hands in defense, Edwards changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Diaz wants to stand but Edwards is controlling the position. Edwards passes Diaz's left leg - he's now in half guard. Edwards controlling the pace. Edwards is tying to control. Diaz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Diaz is defending against the submission attempts here by Edwards.
Diaz is looking to escape. Edwards is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Edwards scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Edwards is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Diaz won't allow Edwards to pass to mount. Edwards is keen to just control but Diaz is a slippery customer. Edwards wants to pass to mount but Diaz is defending the position. Edwards is looking for a kimura here.
Edwards is breathing heavily. Diaz looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Still in half guard, Edwards seems content to control.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Edwards is working for a submission of some sort.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Edwards has his takedown stuffed and Diaz counters with a shoot takedown. Edwards fights it but they end up in guard. Diaz scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Edwards escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Diaz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Edwards working a defensive guard but Diaz manages to pass into side control anyway.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edwards manages to work his way to half guard, despite Diaz's best efforts. Edwards gets back to full guard.
Edwards looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Diaz is defending well. Edwards quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Diaz has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Edwards celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
