Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Babar Barappas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kaden Kum! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Kum looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Kum forces Barappas back against the cage and clinches. Kum tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Barappas just stands there and leans against the cage. Kum tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Barappas successfully pulls guard.
Kum wanted to stand there but Barappas had control of the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barappas had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Kum is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Barappas Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Kum's back instead. Kum defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Barappas's arms. Kum prevents Barappas from getting a body triangle. Barappas working for the choke. Kum can't escape the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barappas is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Kum defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Kum is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Kum tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Kum defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Barappas. Barappas prevents Kum from getting the reversal. Barappas wants to control the pace but Kum is squirming around nicely. Barappas is breathing heavily. Kum is trying to stand up. Kum gets back to half guard. Barappas is controlling the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kum wants to get back to full guard. Barappas trying to control from half guard but Kum is working away. Kum is trying to stand.
Barappas in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Kum tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Barappas!
