PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wolfgang Gullich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pierre Morel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Wolfgang Gullich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pierre Morel!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morel just misses with a punch to the body.
Morel scores with a decent looking hook.
Morel misses with a two punch combination.

Gullich feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Gullich won't allow Morel to sweep him here.
Gullich postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Gullich has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Morel looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gullich is one step ahead there.
Morel is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Morel prevents Gullich from improving his position.
Gullich wants to get back to full guard but Morel has passed into side control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Gullich has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Morel can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Morel must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Morel is looking to stand up but Gullich won't let him.

Gullich looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Gullich wants to sweep here but Morel controlling him for the moment.
Gullich lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Morel!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Gullich unloads with some shots from mount but Morel bucks and avoids them well.

Morel is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Gullich gets his way!
Gullich is breathing heavily.
Gullich is trying to stick to Morel's back but Morel is turning into Gullich. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Gullich's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Morel.

Morel is looking to stand up but Gullich won't let him.

Gullich is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Gullich tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Gullich's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Morel will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Gullich closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Morel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Morel is trying to stand back up but Gullich is controlling him

Gullich is trying for a kimura here. Morel looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Gullich wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Wolfgang Gullich!
