Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Helder Gracies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dimas Russo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dimas Russo struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 157.2lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Russo shoots in for a takedown but Gracies shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Russo looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Gracies throws a body kick that misses. Russo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gracies swats him away and circles back towards the center. Gracies defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Russo. Gracies is trying hard to land a takedown here. Russo sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Gracies fails with the takedown and Russo counters by clinching up. Gracies has picked Russo up - he's going for a ride! Gracies dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Gracies stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Russo to get to his feet. Gracies looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Gracies has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Gracies content just to control the position here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracies stands up from mount. Strange move. A head kick misses from Gracies. Gracies fails in his attempt to clinch. Dimas Russo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gracies shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gracies showed some decent athleticism there. Gracies is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracies wants to lay and pray for a moment but Russo keeps working. Gracies seems to be working for a kimura but Russo defends the submission attempt. Gracies uses his free foot to push down on Russo's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Russo. Gracies sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracies scoring with strikes but Russo is staying in there. Gracies looking to control but Russo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Gracies is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Russo is surviving well by controlling Gracies's body position as best he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A nice elbow there by Gracies. Gracies controlling from the full mount. Gracies is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Russo can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Gracies sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Gracies wants to control the pace but Russo is squirming around nicely. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Helder Gracies just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Gracies shoots in and bounces Russo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gracies connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Gracies closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Gracies in particular looking to stall. Gracies lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Gracies lands strikes from half guard. Russo is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracies looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Gracies stands up out of the half guard. Gracies looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Gracies looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Gracies takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Gracies is looking to take a break and control but Russo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Russo is defending against the submission attempts here by Gracies.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracies seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Russo is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
