PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Solomon Meite (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kokushi Muso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Muso is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Here we Go. Kokushi Muso acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Solomon Meite!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kokushi Muso!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Reed Andrews and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Muso thuds his shin into the meat of Meite's side.

Meite gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Muso to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Meite tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Muso trying to stand up but can't free himself from Meite's guard.
Muso is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Meite wants to get back to his feet but Muso is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Meite is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Meite manages to escape and get back to his feet.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Meite.
The fight stays on the outside here - Muso looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Meite misses with a takedown attempt

and Muso counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Muso wants a takedown but no success here.
Muso keeps control of Meite as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Muso is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Muso missing with knees to the body.
Muso tries to land a knee to the head but Meite blocks with his arms.

Meite has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Muso clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Muso has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
Meite punishes Muso with strikes from the back mount.
You can see the frustration on Muso's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Meite punches the canvas rather than the man.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Muso is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Meite off. It looks like it's working - Meite slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Muso displaying calm under pressure there.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Muso tries to circle away but Meite has him pinned against the cage.

Meite escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Muso rushes Meite and presses him up against the cage.
Muso misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Meite.
Muso should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Muso landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Meite turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Meite is breathing heavily.
Muso pushes Meite away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Meite gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Muso tries to bench press Meite off him but Meite keeps the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Meite working the head and body with strikes.
Meite has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Meite tries to advance to mount but Muso denies him.
Muso is letting Meite control him for a moment.
Meite wants to control but Muso is keeping him busy.
Muso is looking to get back to his feet here but Meite is keeping cool and he's managed to take Muso's back.
Meite controls the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Meite struggling to keep hold of the position.
You can see the frustration on Muso's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Muso turns into Meite and is now in his guard.

Muso drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Muso jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Muso drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Muso seems to have locked his on tight now - Meite screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Muso, as he picks up the win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Kokushi Muso!
