Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Lake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyoto Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lake comes into the arena with Aesthetics Of Hate blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Lyoto Machida enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jackson Lake!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lyoto Machida!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, John Kavanagh and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida throws a hook to the side of Lake's head but Lake sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Lake blocks a head kick by Machida.
Machida lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lake circles away quickly and effectively.

Lake is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Machida's half guard.
Machida is trying to maintain the position but Lake is very close to passing his half guard.

Lake is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Machida is just riding it out for now. Lake eventually gives up the hold.
Machida is doing well to control the position and prevent Lake from advancing to side control.
Machida is looking to control Lake's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Machida avoid being mounted?
Lake missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Lake trying to mount his opponent but Machida defends it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lake is working hard here to advance position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lake shoots for a takedown but Machida saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Lake shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Machida is trying to defend but Lake finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Lake wants to control but Machida is keeping him busy.

Lake seems to be looking for submissions.
Machida trying to control from the bottom.
Lake looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Lake is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Machida doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lake.
Lake throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Machida is trying to stand up here but Lake is controlling him well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Machida fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Machida scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Lake is breathing heavily.
Lake has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


It looks like Jackson Lake has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lake moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Machida missing with a left hand there. Lake was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Lake takes one to the chin there.
Machida misses with an uppercut. Lake saw that one coming.
Lyoto Machida is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Machida lands an overhand right.

Lake scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Machida sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Machida has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lake is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Machida moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lake throws a big right hand that misses.
Lake won't allow Machida to sweep him here.

Lake drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lake jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Lake has gone for a leg lock! Machida slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lake's guard.
Machida wants to pass the guard but Lake is keeping the position.
Machida controlling from the top position.
Lake preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Machida controls from within his opponent's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lake keeping full guard, as Machida tries to pass.
Lake is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lyoto Machida dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jackson Lake's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Lake shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Machida throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Lake takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Machida comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Nice takedown defense from Machida. No joy for Lake on that attempt.
Machida defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lake.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jackson Lake. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lake looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Lake shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A jab from Machida does it's job there.
Machida lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Jackson Lake is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Machida stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Machida wants it to stay on the feet.
Lake looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Machida is fending him off so far but Lake persists. Nope, Machida circles away and we're back to standing.
Lake walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.


Jackson Lake's cut is getting worse.
Machida scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Some wild striking there from Machida.
Machida might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Machida throws a combination. Lake tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Machida drops Lake with a straight right hand, right on the button! Machida follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lyoto Machida!
