Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Foster! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chico Feijo! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Joseph Jones and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Foster clobbers Feijo with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Foster has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Feijo. Foster connects with a crisp jab. Nice uppercut there from Foster. Foster throws a series of punches but Feijo avoids them all with ease. Foster takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Feijo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Foster was well out of range. Poor timing from Feijo. Feijo slaps away a takedown attempt from Foster, before circling back to the center of the mat. Feijo throws a body punch but Foster moves out of range. Feijo is looking to clinch but Foster is avoiding it.
Foster bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Feijo just misses with a punch to the body.
Foster lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Feijo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Foster swats him away and circles back towards the center. Feijo pivots, looking for a leg kick but Foster is out of range and Feijo settles back down. Foster fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Feijo sprawls well initially but Foster persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Foster seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Feijo moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Feijo working for a triangle but Foster defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Feijo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Foster defends it easily. Feijo has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Foster is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Feijo. Foster is staying tight to Feijo's torso, preventing him from escaping. Foster working the ground and pound. Feijo struggling a bit here. Feijo tries to buck Foster off but Foster is having none of it. Foster scores with punches from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Feijo manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Foster performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Foster looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Feijo actively working from the bottom here. Feijo looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Foster lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Feijo taking some punishment here, with Foster in his half guard. Feijo is trying to control but can't.

Foster working Feijo over with strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Foster connects with a nice short shot to Feijo's temple. Foster is stalling here. Feijo is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Foster seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Feijo has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Feijo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Foster, who protects the arm well. Feijo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Foster is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Feijo looks gassed! Feijo tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Foster is trying to improve his position. Foster is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Feijo's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Feijo is looking to take a break and control but Foster is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Feijo is working for a kimura but Foster is defending it quite comfortably.

Feijo uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Foster. Feijo thows a body shot but no joy. Feijo dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Foster. That did some damage! Feijo connects with a solid leg kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Feijo takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Feijo gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Feijo is looking to land body kicks. Feijo uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Foster. Feijo tries a low kick but Foster avoids it. Foster pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Foster blocks a jab. Foster cracks Feijo with a right hand to the side of the head. Chico Feijo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Foster moves out of range as Feijo throws a body kick.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Feijo is looking for a sweep. Foster landing a few strikes. Foster working away. Feijo is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Foster scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Ground and pound from Foster. Foster lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Feijo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Feijo trying to hold on to Foster's head to control him but Foster postures up.
Feijo looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Feijo has hold of Foster's hands but Foster slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Feijo looking for submissions off his back. Foster content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Feijo trying to control here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Foster checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Feijo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Foster jabs Feijo right on the nose. Feijo blinks but takes it well. Foster shoots in and bounces Feijo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Foster passes easily into side control. Nice work. Foster lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Feijo down.

Feijo tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Foster is nestled in close to Feijo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Feijo is looking to improve his position.

Foster is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Feijo slips a straight right by Foster. Marcus Foster is winning the standup battle so far. Feijo throws a quick inside leg kick. Feijo tries to close the distance and clinch but Foster swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Foster lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
It looks like Chico Feijo has been cut. Feijo throws out a leg kick but Foster moves out of range and Feijo only half commits. Foster shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Feijo defends it nicely. Foster lands a jab. Foster swats away the attempt to clinch by Feijo. Foster ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Feijo moves away. Feijo throws a solid leg kick but Foster takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Feijo. Feijo tries to close the distance and clinch but Foster swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Feijo throws a leg kick but Foster checks it. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Foster misses with an uppercut. Feijo saw that one coming.

Feijo is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Foster rather than just go for the knockout. Foster misses with a hook. Feijo ducked under it nicely. Feijo lands a body shot.

Let's see if he can advance position further. Feijo is looking to control Foster's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Feijo avoid being mounted? Feijo might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Foster kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Feijo is looking for a sweep. Feijo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Foster gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Foster connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Foster fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Feijo on the side of the head. Foster throws a shot to the body.
A chopping leg kick lands by Feijo. Foster lands with a hook. Feijo tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Feijo doesn't manage to clinch there - Foster circles away.
Danga de danga de dang - Foster scores with a four punch combination! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Foster feints and as Feijo raises his hands in defense, Foster changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Feijo has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Foster has passed into side control.
