PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between JR NIGGA (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JM CQ (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). NIGGA comes into the arena with "ask about me" by JR blaring out of the sound system. JR NIGGA could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to JM CQ's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, JR NIGGA!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, JM CQ!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
CQ stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and CQ wants it to stay on the feet.
NIGGA misses with a two punch combination.
CQ fails with an attempt to clinch.
CQ is looking to clinch.

NIGGA moves into the clinch.

NIGGA jumps into guard, dragging CQ to the mat.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as CQ accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
NIGGA is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
NIGGA manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. CQ manages to get himself to full guard.
NIGGA trying to control the position from guard on top but CQ is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

CQ is looking for a triangle but NIGGA pushes his legs off easily.

NIGGA stands and steps away. CQ gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

NIGGA drives through and clinches with CQ against the cage.
CQ is trying to break the clinch but NIGGA has him pressed against the cage.
CQ missing with knees to the body.
CQ wants to break free but NIGGA has control.
NIGGA with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
CQ is pressed up against the cage. NIGGA has hold of a leg and is looking to drag CQ down to the mat. CQ avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
NIGGA throws a nice looking combination but CQ bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

NIGGA scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
CQ looks gassed!

CQ looking for submissions off his back.

NIGGA is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and CQ defends it well.
NIGGA passes to full mount!

NIGGA controlling from the full mount.
CQ is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
NIGGA dominating with strikes here.
NIGGA scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish CQ?
CQ can't escape the position.

NIGGA is in the full mount, landing strikes.
NIGGA landing strikes, looking to finish!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
NIGGA punishing his opponent with strikes.
NIGGA avoids the attempt from CQ to control.
CQ is bucking up trying to escape but NIGGA cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

NIGGA lands a nice shot to the head.

NIGGA has control of CQ's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and CQ regains control of the situation pretty easily.

NIGGA controlling from the full mount.
CQ tries to hold on but NIGGA pushes him away.

NIGGA get's back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

JR NIGGA dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


NIGGA tries to score a power double leg takedown but CQ sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten NIGGA somewhat.

NIGGA gets a clinch.
A bit of stalling here from CQ.
NIGGA will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning CQ up against the cage.

NIGGA's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
CQ displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from NIGGA.

NIGGA closes the distance and pushes CQ back into the cage.
CQ has NIGGA pushed against the cage.
NIGGA lands a shoulder strike.
NIGGA looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
CQ tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and NIGGA avoids it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

NIGGA has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics CQ uses from the top position.
NIGGA is pulling down on CQ's head to control his posture.

CQ is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
CQ wanted to stand there but NIGGA had control of the position.
NIGGA lands a good elbow from the bottom.
CQ wants to get up but he can't break NIGGA's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

NIGGA pushes CQ off and scrambles back to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

NIGGA instigates a clinch.

NIGGA is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

NIGGA looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
NIGGA has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
NIGGA trying to keep a closed guard but CQ is proving a slippery customer.

CQ stands up and waves to NIGGA to follow him.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

NIGGA tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for JR NIGGA. That's going to take a lot out of him.

NIGGA jumps guard.
NIGGA is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
CQ distracts NIGGA with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
NIGGA avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
NIGGA bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in CQ's guard.
NIGGA slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from CQ.

NIGGA looking to control and managing it successfully.
CQ is trying to escape the mount.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


CQ misses with a combination

and NIGGA counters by clinching up.

NIGGA breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

NIGGA throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. CQ was covering up waiting for the punch and NIGGA finishes the takedown easily into guard.

CQ can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as NIGGA controls the pace.
NIGGA postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
NIGGA passes into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

NIGGA decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

NIGGA clinches with his opponent.
NIGGA managing to block the knees to the body from CQ.

NIGGA jumps guard and drags CQ to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

NIGGA has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes CQ off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
NIGGA shoots in looking for a takedown. CQ tries to sprawl out of it but NIGGA keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. CQ manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
CQ misses with a wild combination.

and NIGGA counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
CQ throws a knee to the head but misses.
A nice left hand lands by NIGGA.
NIGGA avoids the elbow strike from CQ, against the cage.
CQ wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

NIGGA has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics CQ uses from the top position.
NIGGA wants to stand up but CQ is controlling him.
NIGGA manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. CQ manages to get himself to full guard.

NIGGA got a little sloppy there for a moment and CQ has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, NIGGA has managed to get both his arms back between CQ's legs - danger averted.

NIGGA drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and NIGGA jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

CQ is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
CQ is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst NIGGA is controlling him.
NIGGA tries to free his leg and advance position but CQ is retaining full guard.

CQ has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but NIGGA can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
NIGGA works over CQ with some ground and pound from guard.
NIGGA trying to control the position from guard on top but CQ is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
CQ throws a head kick that misses

and NIGGA counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
NIGGA seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but CQ does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
CQ looks like he's trying to stand up.

NIGGA is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
JR NIGGA is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
CQ won't allow NIGGA to pass to mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
JR NIGGA showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for NIGGA, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
