PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Grant Brophy Knott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chip McAllister (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Grant Brophy Knott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Chip McAllister!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Chris Edwards and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brophy Knott wants to clinch up but McAllister keeps it at a distance.

McAllister has managed to clinch.
Brophy Knott has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
McAllister gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Brophy Knott.
Brophy Knott prevents a takedown attempt there.
McAllister tries for a takedown. No joy.
Brophy Knott is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Grant Brophy Knott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chip McAllister.

Brophy Knott is bucking up trying to escape but McAllister cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

McAllister controlling the position well here. Brophy Knott rolled but McAllister kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

McAllister wants to control but Brophy Knott is keeping busy.
Even with his hooks in, McAllister manages to miss with strikes from the back.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



McAllister closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
McAllister remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McAllister takes a little break here. Brophy Knott wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

McAllister wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Brophy Knott, who protects the arm well.
Brophy Knott is letting McAllister control him for a moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

McAllister postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Brophy Knott looks a forlorn figure.

Chip McAllister showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Despite being in the dominant position, Chip McAllister just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

McAllister wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brophy Knott keeps working.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McAllister stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Brophy Knott tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
McAllister fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Brophy Knott avoids it really well and circles away.
McAllister shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
McAllister misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

McAllister stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brophy Knott swivels though and keeps the full guard.

McAllister working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Brophy Knott is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and McAllister has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Brophy Knott taps out!
