Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Dalton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quinton Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jim Dalton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Quinton Jackson! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Igor Prikhodko and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dalton shoots in for a double leg but Jackson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Jackson feints and as Dalton raises his hands in defense, Jackson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Jackson won't allow Dalton to sweep him here. Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dalton swivels though and keeps the full guard. Dalton looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Dalton is breathing heavily. Jackson trying to control but Dalton is working from the bottom. Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dalton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jackson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Jackson landing with the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dalton looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Jackson throws and elbow that misses. Dalton uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jackson's guard. Nice move by Dalton! Jackson seems keen to control Dalton's posture. Jackson is trying to keep Dalton in close.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Jackson has a closed guard, preventing Dalton from standing up. Jackson thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Jackson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Dalton is trying to defend but Jackson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Jackson not doing much here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dalton trying to control but Jackson postures up.
Jackson tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Jackson slows the pace down in half guard. Jackson is looking to advance position but Dalton won't allow it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jackson prevents Dalton from standing back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Quinton Jackson dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Jackson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dalton with a lazy takedown attempt and Jackson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Dalton! Jackson controlling the position easily from mount. Jackson working Dalton over with strikes here. Jackson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Dalton's face.
Jackson breaks from Dalton's wrist control and lands an elbow. Jackson putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Dalton is squirming around, avoiding Jackson's attempts to control the action.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dalton in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Jackson landing strikes, looking to finish! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jackson working away from the top, dropping strikes. Jackson is in the full mount, landing strikes. Jackson landing strikes, looking to finish! Jackson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Dalton is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jackson looking to finish Dalton with some ground and pound. This is bad for Dalton! Jackson working for a submission but Dalton is keeping him at bay. Dalton is looking to get to half guard. Jackson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Jackson controlling the pace for now. Dalton is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Dalton is squirming around, avoiding Jackson's attempts to control the action. Dalton stops Jackson from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. You get the feeling that Dalton really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Jackson trying to control but he's not successful this time. Dalton is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Jackson controlling the pace for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Quinton Jackson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Dalton has his takedown stuffed and Jackson moves into the clinch. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Jackson fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Jackson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jackson fails to pull guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Jackson is trying to trip Dalton. He has hold of a leg but Dalton is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Jackson persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Jackson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Jackson trying to control the position from guard on top but Dalton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson sitting in guard, not really doing much. Dalton is trying to control the position but Jackson postures up. Jackson works over Dalton with some ground and pound from guard. Jackson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dalton is keeping the position for now. Jackson wants to stand but Dalton is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Jackson trying to control but Dalton is working from the bottom.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Dalton gets caught flat footed, as Jackson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Dalton is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jackson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Dalton is trying to control the position but Jackson postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson won't allow Dalton to sweep him here. Jackson tries to free his leg and advance position but Dalton is retaining full guard. Jackson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Dalton looking for a sweep. Not yet Dalton, not yet. Dalton is looking to stand up but Jackson isn't so interested in that idea.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Dalton circles away from the clinch attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Dalton gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Jackson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Dalton moves into full guard.

Jim Dalton has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Quinton Jackson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Jackson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
And that's the end of the fight! Quinton Jackson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Jackson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
