Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tank Abbott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William McDonough (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McDonough is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The Beast by Tech N9ne. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tank Abbott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, William McDonough!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonough throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Abbott throws out a loose jab but McDonough uses good head movement to avoid it.
McDonough darts in and out, connecting with a jab.


It looks like Tank Abbott has been cut.
Abbott looks to score with a jab to the body but McDonough is just out of range.
Abbott lands a jab.
McDonough looks to land a combination but Abbott avoids it well.
McDonough displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Abbott throws out the jab.
Abbott misses with a jab to the body

and McDonough counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Abbott is trying to maintain the position but McDonough is very close to passing his half guard.
McDonough trying to control the action but Abbott is working from the bottom.
McDonough perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

McDonough with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Let's hope that McDonough has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
McDonough passes to full mount!
Abbott is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
McDonough sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
McDonough takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Abbott is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Abbott is trying desperately to improve position.
McDonough fails to move to back control.

McDonough with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Abbott tries to get back to half guard but can't.
McDonough takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Abbott knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McDonough on the ground.

Abbott stops McDonough from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

McDonough looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

McDonough has hold of Abbott's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Abbott manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
McDonough wants to take Abbott's back here but Abbott is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Abbott tries to get back to half guard but can't.
McDonough sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
McDonough trying to control but he's not successful this time.
McDonough looking to control and managing it successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William McDonough dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Tank Abbott's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


McDonough drops his hands momentarily and Abbott takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
McDonough tries to score a power double leg takedown but Abbott sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten McDonough somewhat.
McDonough has a takedown stuffed.
Abbott misses with a straight right.
McDonough looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Tank Abbott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of William McDonough.
Abbott throws a shot from downtown. McDonough moves away and avoids it.

McDonough is thwarting Abbott's attempts to control the position.

McDonough perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
McDonough looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
McDonough not doing much here.
McDonough thows a huge punch but Abbott dodges it nicely.
McDonough is just content to waste time from the top position. Abbott takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Despite being in the dominant position, William McDonough just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Abbott throws a left and a right that both miss

and McDonough counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by McDonough.
McDonough trying to control the position from guard on top but Abbott is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

McDonough looking to pass the guard.
McDonough controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
McDonough pushes down on Abbott's leg and manages to get into half guard.
McDonough passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Abbott!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McDonough tries to control but Abbott wriggling away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

McDonough working for a guillotine from mount but Abbott is in no mood to give up.

McDonough goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Abbott is on top in guard.
McDonough wants to sweep but no luck.
William McDonough has got the better of the ground game so far.

Abbott is sitting in close to McDonough's body. McDonough has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Abbott is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Abbott is tapping! That was a very nice submission by McDonough.
