Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between BJ StPierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Wiggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Wiggs! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Franklyn Lucas and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! StPierre shoots in for a takedown but Wiggs shows good takedown defense. Wiggs throws a combination but it was largely blocked by StPierre. StPierre gets cracked there but stands up to it.

StPierre knows he should have avoided that one. StPierre shoots for a takedown but Wiggs saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Wiggs throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

StPierre is rocked! StPierre shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Wiggs lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Oh StPierre is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Wiggs throws a nice looking combination but StPierre bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Wiggs.

StPierre clinches but Wiggs breaks the clinch and Wiggs counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Wiggs. StPierre drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Wiggs gets the underhooks and prevents it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. StPierre has Wiggs pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Wiggs manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. StPierre is breathing heavily. StPierre has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Wiggs is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. StPierre stalling in the clinch but Wiggs improves position. Wiggs manages to break the clinch.

Wiggs is pressed up against the cage. StPierre has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Wiggs down to the mat. Wiggs avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Wiggs drops StPierre with a left right combo! Wiggs follows him down to the ground into side control.
StPierre tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wiggs wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wiggs decides to stand up, so the ref orders StPierre to his feet. Wiggs takes the fight into the clinch. StPierre is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Wiggs pulls him back up using the underhooks. StPierre tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Wiggs breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. A big head kick from Wiggs and StPierre is sent sprawling to the canvas! Wiggs tries to stand but StPierre is controlling from the bottom. StPierre has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Wiggs has passed into side control.
StPierre is trying to improve his position. Wiggs decides to stand back up. Wiggs steps back and let's StPierre get back to his feet. StPierre tries for a takedown but Wiggs circles away easily and Wiggs counters by clinching up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. StPierre has had enough of the clinch but Wiggs keeps him there for the moment. Wiggs breaks the clinch.
StPierre gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Wiggs counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Wiggs lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
StPierre with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Wiggs to score with a decent uppercut. StPierre with a poor takedown and Wiggs counters with a series of strikes. StPierre will be more careful next time no doubt. StPierre decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. StPierre is trying to work for a kimura but Wiggs is defending well.
StPierre works his way into full mount! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. StPierre looking to secure an arm triangle but Wiggs defends it well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wiggs connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. John Wiggs seems to be getting the better of the standup. No joy there for Wiggs, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

StPierre shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wiggs as he jumps to the side. The fight stays on the outside here - StPierre looks like he's thinking about clinching though. StPierre closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Wiggs to the mat! Wiggs manages to get full guard. Wiggs is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst StPierre is controlling him. That's two minutes gone in the round. StPierre controls from within his opponent's guard. StPierre has gone for a leg lock! Wiggs slips out almost immediately though and dives into StPierre's guard. Wiggs would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Wiggs won't allow StPierre to sweep him here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. StPierre misses with a takedown attempt and Wiggs counters by clinching up. StPierre trying to stall but Wiggs improves his position.

StPierre drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. StPierre drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Wiggs manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now StPierre has Wiggs in his guard. StPierre throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Wiggs escapes and throws StPierre's legs to the side, diving into side control! Wiggs stands up and we're back to a striking position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. StPierre shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wiggs as he avoids it easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Wiggs showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

StPierre postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Wiggs is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of StPierre, into his guard. Wiggs gets to his feet. StPierre looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! StPierre has his takedown stuffed and Wiggs counters with a one-two to the body. StPierre blocks a head kick by Wiggs.

Possibly, maybe, no StPierre has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Wiggs is looking to work his way out of this bad position but StPierre is controlling him well.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to BJ StPierre. I think Wiggs has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
