Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jarko Hakkinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timo Silakka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hakkinen kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Mother - Danzig. The key to victory for Jarko Hakkinen has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jarko Hakkinen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Timo Silakka! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hakkinen has a takedown stuffed. A head kick from Hakkinen lands but Silakka takes it in his stride. Silakka jabbing away but nothing is landing. Silakka misses with a few strikes there.
Silakka throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Silakka drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hakkinen is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Silakka wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hakkinen, who protects the arm well. Silakka working the ground and pound. Hakkinen wants to control but Silakka postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hakkinen manages to get back to half guard. Silakka takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Silakka wants to pass the guard but Hakkinen is defending well. Silakka thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hakkinen's head. Silakka passes to side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Silakka looks gassed! Silakka tries to move to mount but Hakkinen blocks the move with his legs. Silakka wants to control but Hakkinen is keeping him busy. Hakkinen is trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Silakka wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hakkinen keeps working. Hakkinen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Silakka wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Hakkinen fails in his attempt to clinch. Hakkinen fails with the takedown and Silakka decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hakkinen's guard. Hakkinen trying to keep a closed guard but Silakka is proving a slippery customer.
Silakka distracts Hakkinen with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Silakka's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Silakka scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Hakkinen being controlled here, momentarily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. I looks like Silakka might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Hakkinen has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Silakka has passed into side control.
Silakka has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Silakka closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Silakka is looking to take a break and control but Hakkinen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Silakka winds up and cracks Hakkinen with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Hakkinen is rocked! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Silakka looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Oh Hakkinen is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Silakka seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Ground and pound from Silakka. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Silakka working over Hakkinen with some ground and pound. Hakkinen looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Silakka winds up and cracks Hakkinen with a swinging punch to the side of the head. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Silakka connects with a nice short shot to Hakkinen's temple. Hakkinen wants to control but Silakka passes into side.

Silakka looks up at the clock and then as Hakkinen takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Silakka smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Silakka moves into full mount! Silakka with shots to the head and body - Hakkinen looks very uncomfortable down there. Silakka looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

He's got his arms around Hakkinen's waist but Hakkinen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Silakka off to one side. Silakka is breathing heavily. Silakka shoots in but Hakkinen avoids the takedown attempt easily. Silakka looks for a takedown but Hakkinen sprawls well. Timo Silakka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hakkinen is pressed against the cage. Silakka pushes back and unleashes a big elbow that really hurts Hakkinen! Two more big strikes from Silakka and Hakkinen crumples to the mat and taps out furiously due to the strikes!
