Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Burgess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bobby Jones told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burgess ducks under a wild hook from Jones. A big right from Burgess misses. Burgess scores with a hook to the body. Jones takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Jones showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Burgess.
Burgess misses with the combination.
Burgess throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A swing and a miss from Burgess. Jones uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Burgess. Burgess throws a right and a left that both miss. Burgess connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Jones scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Burgess throws a hook but Jones avoids it easily. Burgess jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Burgess wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Burgess throws a right and a left that Jones avoids nicely. Jones moves forwards but Burgess connects with a nice, crisp jab. Jones fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Burgess sprawls well initially but Jones persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Burgess is refusing to be controlled, as Jones sits in half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Burgess is trying to maintain the position but Jones is very close to passing his half guard. Jones has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Burgess knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground. Jones looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Jones has hold of Burgess's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Burgess manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Jones wants to sweep but no luck. Burgess postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Burgess won't allow Jones to sweep him here. Burgess content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Burgess throwing strikes from guard but Jones blocks nicely. Jones working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Burgess. Burgess pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jones is keeping the position for now. Burgess wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Burgess with a flurry of punches that miss. Jones bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Burgess's guard. Jones is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Burgess looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there. Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Burgess on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Burgess tries to get out of the position. Jones trying to control but Burgess is working from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Burgess with a body punch. A glancing blow. Burgess swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Burgess throws a hook but Jones avoids it easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones is trying hard to land a takedown here. Burgess sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Burgess throws out a loose jab but Jones uses good head movement to avoid it. Burgess throws a big shot that misses. Anthony Burgess seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones thuds a left hand into Burgess's body. Burgess sizes up Jones with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Jones shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Burgess manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Burgess swivels though and keeps the full guard. Burgess wants to get back to his feet but Jones is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Burgess is trying to keep Jones in close.
Jones thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Jones pushes down on Burgess's leg and manages to get into half guard. Burgess keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burgess tries to roll over but Jones keeps him under control. Jones is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Jones is working for a kimura but Burgess is defending it quite comfortably.
Jones is breathing heavily. Burgess makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Burgess loads up on a big right hand but Jones slips the punch. Burgess catches Jones with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Burgess lands a jab.

Jones takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Burgess connects with a good right hand that stumbles Jones. Jones circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Jones slips a straight right by Burgess. Burgess looks to land a left hand but Jones moved out of range nicely. Jones bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Jones displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Burgess throws out the jab. Burgess throws a series of punches but Jones moves out of range. Burgess throws a hook but Jones avoids it easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Burgess throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Jones slips a jab from Burgess. Anthony Burgess is winning the standup battle so far. Jones slips under a jab from Burgess. Burgess looks to score with a jab to the body but Jones is just out of range. Burgess throws a right hand that Jones ducks under and follows up with a left that Jones also avoids with ease. That was a close second round but I would say that Anthony Burgess will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
