Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Patrick Cote! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Daley! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Patrick Alders and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cote shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Daley but Daley pushes him off and we're back to square one. Cote has a takedown stuffed. Cote shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Daley as he avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Patrick Cote. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cote takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Daley takes the fight into the clinch. Cote tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Daley just stands there and leans against the ropes. Daley's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Cote tries to close the distance and clinch but Daley swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Daley shoots for a double leg takedown but Cote sprawls well. He's pushed Daley's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. A nice inside leg kick there by Cote. That's going to slow Daley down. Daley shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Cote misses with a takedown attempt and Daley counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cote won't be happy with that. Cote is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Cote might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Daley is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cote knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cote is looking for a sweep. Cote is breathing heavily. Daley taking a break here but Cote is having none of it and regains half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Daley connects with a nice short shot to Cote's temple. Daley trying to control from Cote's half guard. Cote has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Cote keeping moving, preventing Daley from controlling successfully. Cote wants to get back to his feet but Daley is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Cote being controlled here, momentarily. Daley must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Cote is looking for a triangle but Daley pushes his legs off easily.
Daley sitting in guard here, content to control. Daley wants to control from the top but Cote keeps moving. Daley makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Daley trying to control the position from guard on top but Cote is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cote is trying to control the position but Daley postures up. Cote looking for a sweep. Not yet Cote, not yet. Daley loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Cote circles away from the clinch attempt.
Daley shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Daley was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Daley looking to secure an arm triangle but Cote defends it well. Cote could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Cote tries to lock up and control but Daley gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cote taking shots to the head. Daley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cote. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cote is looking to improve his position but Daley isn't that keen on the idea. Cote is working hard here to advance position. Daley dominating with strikes here. Daley trying to control but he's not successful this time. Daley landing strikes, looking to finish!
That's five minutes gone in the round. Cote regains half guard. Cote is trying to stand up here but Daley is controlling him well. Cote tries to roll over but Daley keeps him under control. Daley trying to control the action but Cote is working from the bottom. Cote has one foot on Daley's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Cote keeps the fight on the outside. Daley fails to land with a series of punches.
A left and a right from Cote both land. Nice combination. Daley is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cote sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Daley scores with a one two! Cote had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Cote tries to clinch but fails miserably and Daley counters with a takedown into side control. Cote manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Cote kicks off Daley and gets to his feet. Cote throws a series of punches but Daley moves out of range. Daley shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cote manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. This has been an exciting period of action! Cote looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Cote had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Daley defends it easily. Daley looking to sit in guard and control but Cote gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Cote controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Cote trying to control but Daley is working from the bottom.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Daley working a defensive guard here.

That's nine minutes gone in the round. Cote pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Daley is keeping the position for now. Cote trying to control the position from guard on top but Daley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Daley keeping full guard, as Cote tries to pass.
And that's the end of the fight! Paul Daley comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Daley has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
