Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Perttu Peikkola! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Peter Twerin! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Twerin circles away from the clinch attempt.
Peikkola drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Peikkola throwing strikes from guard but Twerin blocks nicely. Peikkola has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Twerin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Peikkola is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Peikkola with a nice head shot there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Peikkola cracks Twerin with a solid left hand. Peikkola gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Twerin clinches with his opponent.
Twerin misses with a hook from the clinch. Twerin wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Peikkola manages to pull guard.
Peikkola looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Twerin looks gassed! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Twerin wants to control from the top but Peikkola keeps moving. Peikkola working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Twerin.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peikkola escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Twerin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Peikkola has a closed guard, preventing Twerin from standing up. Twerin preventing the sweep. Peikkola had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Twerin is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Peikkola Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Twerin's back instead. Twerin takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Twerin trying to control the action but Peikkola just sinks the hooks in. I really don't envy Twerin right now.
Peikkola lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK. Twerin is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Peikkola is not going to allow Twerin to sit and survive in this position. Oooh a big shot gets through from Peikkola. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Twerin looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Peikkola controlling well, preventing Twerin from escaping the position.
Peikkola is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Peikkola punching from mount but Twerin doing a good job of avoiding damage. Twerin is in all sorts of trouble here.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Peikkola cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Twerin tries to lock up and control but Peikkola gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Peikkola quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Peikkola but it's paid off an Twerin is forced to tap! Nice work by Peikkola.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Perttu Peikkola!
