Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Francisco Filho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and vinny souza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Filho comes to the cage accompanied by Sandstorm. vinny souza is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

souza shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than souza was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Filho is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

souza working for a guillotine from mount but Filho is in no mood to give up.
Filho is desperately trying to improve his position but souza has a good base and remains in mount.
souza working away from the top, dropping strikes.
souza looking to control but Filho is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

souza has control of Filho's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Filho regains control of the situation pretty easily.

souza wants to finish this one by submission but Filho is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from souza.

Filho is trying to escape the mount.

souza is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Filho is surviving well by controlling souza's body position as best he can.

souza jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Filho manages to avoid the submission attempt.
souza looks gassed!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Filho is trying to control souza's posture but souza avoids it.
Filho tries to get back to half guard but can't.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
souza fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Filho avoids it really well and circles away.
souza on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Filho decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Filho is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Filho is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and souza defends it well.

Filho wants to work for an arm triangle but souza is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Filho winds up and cracks souza with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Filho is looking to take a break and control but souza is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Filho throws a strike but souza avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

souza looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Filho wants to control from the top but souza keeps moving.

Filho drops back looking for a leg! souza is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and souza manages to kick Filho off! Filho jumps back into souza's guard.

souza is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but vinny souza will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

souza swats away the attempt to clinch by Filho.

and Filho counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Filho has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

souza is looking to sinch up a triangle. Filho throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to souza's body to avoid the submission. souza has instead reached around Filho's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! souza arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
