Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Wellington! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roy Kostinov! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Kostinov. No joy for Wellington on that attempt. Nice sprawl there from Kostinov as Wellington shoots in. Kostinov pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Wellington misses with a takedown attempt - Kostinov sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Wellington. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kostinov throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Kostinov looks to land a left hand but Wellington moved out of range nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wellington shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Wellington stands up over Kostinov, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Wellington won't allow Kostinov to sweep him here. Kostinov trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Wellington thows a big elbow that misses. Wellington throws a big right hand that misses. Kostinov scores with a nice shot. Wellington working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kostinov's head. Wellington throws a strike but Kostinov rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Kostinov trying to control the position from guard on top but Wellington is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kostinov won't allow Wellington to get back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wellington keeping moving, preventing Kostinov from controlling successfully. Kostinov is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Kostinov stops Wellington from standing up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kostinov with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Wellington wants to stand up but Kostinov is controlling him. Kostinov makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Kostinov thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Wellington wants to get back to his feet but Kostinov is in a dominant position and won't allow it. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Kostinov landing with the ground and pound. It's a sloppy attempt though and Kostinov jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Kostinov pushing down on Wellington's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Kostinov looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Wellington tries to kick Kostinov off but Kostinov keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Kostinov is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Wellington is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
