Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mitar Mrkela!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shellard lands a two punch combo.
Mrkela swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Shellard counters with a left and a right that stings Mrkela.
Mrkela looks for a takedown but Shellard sprawls well.

Mrkela moves into range and clinches up with Shellard.
Mrkela wants a takedown but no success here.

Mrkela jumps guard.

Mrkela looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Shellard has picked Mrkela up and slammed him! Mrkela can't keep hold of the triangle and Shellard manages to pass to side control!
Mrkela can't do much from the bottom here.

Shellard looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Shellard is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Mrkela has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Mrkela really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shellard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mrkela takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Shellard fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mrkela avoids it really well and circles away.

Shellard really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Shellard throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mrkela's waist but Mrkela gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Shellard off to one side.
Mrkela is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

A close second round but Mitar Mrkela will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Mrkela is pressed up against the cage. Shellard has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mrkela down to the mat. Mrkela avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Mrkela bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Shellard tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Mrkela keeps control of Shellard as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Mrkela lands a takedown into guard.

Shellard has his feet on Mrkela's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Mrkela misses with a body kick.

and Mrkela counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Shellard's guard now.
Mrkela tries to free his leg and advance position but Shellard is retaining full guard.
Shellard is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Shellard throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mrkela works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Shellard won't allow Mrkela to get back to his feet.
Mrkela looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Shellard puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Mrkela is in trouble now - Shellard has advanced to mount!

Mitar Mrkela comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
