Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Riddle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thompson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Riddle pinned against the cage. Riddle gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Thompson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Riddle manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Riddle is on top in guard.
Thompson keeping moving, preventing Riddle from controlling successfully. Riddle sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Thompson's guard. Riddle wants to lay and pray for a moment but Thompson keeps working. Riddle missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Riddle decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Thompson shoots in and bounces Riddle off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Riddle is pulling down on Thompson's head. It's preventing any offense from Thompson, at least for the moment. Thompson distracts Riddle with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Riddle on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Riddle tries to get out of the position. Thompson looks gassed! Riddle seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Riddle not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Riddle stands up from mount. Strange move. Riddle misses with a takedown and Thompson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Riddle swats away the attempt to clinch by Thompson. Thompson misses with a takedown and Riddle counters with a nice double leg into side control. Thompson won't be happy with that. Riddle is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Thompson's shoulder. That is not cool. Riddle seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Thompson for as long as he can get away with.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Riddle stands up and beckons Thompson to his feet. Thompson tries to clinch up and Riddle counters into the clinch. Nicely done. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Riddle pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Riddle shoots in and bounces Thompson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

He's obviously looking to slow Thompson down. Jeff Riddle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Thompson scores with a nice right hand.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Thompson. Riddle shoots in for a takedown but Thompson shows good takedown defense. Riddle shoots for a double leg takedown but Thompson sprawls well. He's pushed Riddle's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Riddle. That's going to take a lot out of him. Thompson wants to clinch and Riddle counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Riddle. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Thompson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Thompson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Riddle. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Riddle has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Thompson connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Riddle shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Thompson as he avoids it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thompson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Riddle paws at him with a jab and circles away. Thompson looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Riddle has Thompson pulled in close to control his posture. Riddle looking to control.
Thompson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Thompson lands a couple of digs. Thompson landing with the ground and pound. Riddle is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Riddle is trying to control the position but Thompson postures up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riddle is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Thompson is aware though and is defending well. Jeff Riddle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Thompson landing some decent shots from guard. Riddle throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Thompson postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Riddle is working an open guard so Thompson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Thompson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Riddle moves into the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Riddle is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Riddle tries to score a body lock takedown but Thompson shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Thompson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Jeff Riddle dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

No luck for Riddle with that takedown attempt. Thompson has his takedown stuffed and Riddle counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Riddle. Jeff Riddle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of DJ Thompson. Thompson doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Thompson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Riddle sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Riddle has his takedown stuffed enabling Thompson to counter with a crisp jab. Thompson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Thompson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Riddle wriggles free and stands up. Thompson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Riddle counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Thompson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Riddle decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
And that's the end of the fight! Jeff Riddle showed his dominance in that final round. Well Riddle has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
