Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, King Bass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bill Clay!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Clay or perhaps it was just good defense by Bass which made him look bad.
Clay fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bass avoids it really well and circles away.

Clay forces Bass back against the cage and clinches.
Clay is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Bass stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Clay tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A head kick from Clay lands but Bass takes it in his stride.

Clay ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Clay no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Bass shoots in for a takedown but Clay shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Clay is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bass defends well.

Bass got a little sloppy there for a moment and Clay has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bass has managed to get both his arms back between Clay's legs - danger averted.

Bass shoots in looking for a takedown. Clay tries to sprawl out of it but Bass keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Clay manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

King Bass dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Bass will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Bass has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Clay is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Clay displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bass.
Clay lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Bass changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Clay tries to avoid it but Bass manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Clay to the ground. Clay escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Clay lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bass circles away quickly and effectively.
Bass looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Clay is fending him off so far but Bass persists. Nope, Clay circles away and we're back to standing.
Clay with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Bass to score with a decent uppercut.
No joy there for Clay, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Bass shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Clay is trying to defend but Bass finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Clay manages to escape and get back to his feet!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Clay fails to pull guard.
Bass tries to pull guard but Clay holds him up against the cage and eventually Bass drops back down to his feet.
Clay using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Bass has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Clay can't break the clinch.
Bass is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Bass keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Clay's efforts to push away.
Bass tries to land knees in the clinch but Clay avoids the damage to the body.

Clay escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Clay counters by moving into the clinch.
Bass tries to pull guard but Clay won't allow it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Clay jumps guard and drags Bass to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Bill Clay has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Bass stands up and waves to Clay to follow him.
Clay throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Bass's head.

And that's the end of the fight!
King Bass showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bass, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
