Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chance Tatum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Paiva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tatum comes to the cage accompanied by my own summer - deftones. Paiva has chosen No Problems as his entrance music. Chance Tatum has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paiva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tatum swats him away and circles back towards the center. Paiva looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Tatum drives through with a takedown into guard. Tatum content to stall in guard here. Tatum landing with the ground and pound. Tatum is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tatum has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Paiva can't keep his opponent in guard - Tatum advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Tatum controlling the pace. Paiva pushes Tatum off and gets back to his feet. Tatum shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Tatum showed some decent athleticism there.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Chance Tatum just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Tatum changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Paiva looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Tatum is looking to take a break and control but Paiva is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Tatum controlling the position from side mount. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Tatum trying to control the action but Paiva is working from the bottom. You can see the frustration on Paiva's face as Tatum controls the position.

Paiva looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Paiva is being controlled here. Paiva tries to bench press Tatum off him but Tatum keeps the position. Paiva is not content to let Tatum control the position. Paiva is trying to control Tatum's posture but Tatum avoids it. Tatum moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Tatum has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Tatum shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Tatum showed some decent athleticism there. Tatum seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Very smooth. Paiva is breathing heavily. Tatum controls the position from side control. Tatum has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Tatum has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Paiva!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Paiva is looking to improve his position but Tatum isn't that keen on the idea. Tatum sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Tatum get's back to his feet. Tatum instigates a clinch. Tatum escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tatum shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Paiva is defending against the submission attempts here by Tatum.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Chance Tatum overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paiva tries to roll over but Tatum keeps him under control. Tatum seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Tatum is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Paiva tries to land a sweep but no joy. Tatum won't allow Paiva to get back to his feet. Tatum advances to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tatum gets the takedown into side control. Tatum slows the pace down. Paiva tries to get back to half guard but can't. Tatum tries for a kimura but Paiva is defending well. Tatum controls the position. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paiva wants to control but Tatum postures up. Tatum tries to move into full mount but can't pass Paiva's legs. Paiva trying to remain calm as Tatum controls from the top position.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Chance Tatum just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Tatum connects with a right hand. Paiva shakes it off. Jon Paiva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tatum fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Paiva sprawls well initially but Tatum persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Tatum controlling the action here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tatum is thwarting Paiva's attempts to control the position. Tatum controlling the pace. Tatum seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Paiva for as long as he can get away with. Jon Paiva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
