PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brendan Wertman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tarka Bakone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wertman comes to the cage accompanied by No One Loves Me and Neither Do I. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Brendan Wertman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Tarka Bakone!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Donald Grub and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Bakone as Wertman shoots in.
Bakone connects with a nice looking jab.
Wertman has a takedown stuffed.
A head kick misses from Bakone.

Wertman blocks the body kick.

Wertman postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bakone wants to control from the top but Wertman keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Bakone lands a head kick. Wertman smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Wertman closes the distance and clinches up with Bakone, looking for a takedown. Wertman pushes Bakone against the cage but Bakone circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Both fighters circling a little - Bakone finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Tarka Bakone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That was a close round but I would say that Brendan Wertman will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Wertman chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Bakone can pounce on him.
Wertman shoots in for a takedown but Bakone shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Bakone parries the strikes from Wertman easily there. Wertman is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bakone to escape.

Bakone really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wertman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
