Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Junior Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tomasz Drwal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tomasz Drwal struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 171.2lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drwal changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Alves looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Drwal wants to control but Alves is keeping him busy.
Drwal is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Alves has escaped the position, nice work there.
Alves wants to control but Drwal postures up.
Alves gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Drwal wants to take a breather but Alves is having none of it.
Alves trying to hold on to Drwal's head to control him but Drwal postures up.
Drwal trying to control the action but Alves is working from the bottom.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Drwal gets caught flat footed, as Alves shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Alves thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Alves wants to lay and pray for a moment but Drwal keeps working.
Alves seems to be looking for submissions.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Drwal shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Alves counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Drwal!
Drwal tries to reverse the position but Alves maintains control.
Alves is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Drwal can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Drwal tries to lock up and control but Alves gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Alves looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Alves working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Drwal looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Alves! Submission of the night perhaps?
