Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Douglass Devine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Requina (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Douglass Devine! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Requina! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Devine is looking to clinch. Requina scoring well with a low kick there.
Devine closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Requina trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Requina tries to get back to half guard but can't. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Requina is squirming around, avoiding Devine's attempts to control the action. Devine with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Devine looking to control but Requina is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Requina is working to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Devine wants to control the pace but Requina is squirming around nicely. Requina bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! Devine pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Requina tries to reverse the position but Devine maintains control. Devine trying to control but he's not successful this time. Requina working to try and regain half guard.
Requina taking shots to the head. Devine blocks Requina's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Requina tries to lock up and control but Devine gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Requina is desperately trying to improve his position but Devine has a good base and remains in mount. Devine is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Requina has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Requina is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Devine's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Devine's back! Requina is looking to control Devine but Devine is wriggling around and keeping busy. Devine tries to roll but Requina sticks to his back.

Requina should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Requina missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Requina throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Devine feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Devine lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Requina can do anything to dispel that myth. Requina is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Devine's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Devine's back! Requina has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Requina is landing with strikes from the back. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! A close round but Michael Requina will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Douglass Devine's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Requina looks to score with a jab to the body but Devine is just out of range. Devine seems to have got his legs back now. Requina shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Requina misses with a takedown and Devine counters with a head kick. That will keep Requina thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Requina throws a nice outside leg kick. Devine is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Devine will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
That's one minute gone in the round. Requina swats away the attempt to clinch by Devine. Devine shoots and misses and Requina counters with a takedown into side control. Requina is breathing heavily. Devine is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Requina off and has taken his back! You can see the frustration on Requina's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Devine is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Requina knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Requina for a finish. Requina tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Devine is standing up, even though he is in mount. Requina shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Devine looks for a takedown but Requina sprawls well.

Devine prevents Requina from improving his position. Devine passes to full mount! Devine tries to control but Requina wriggling away. Requina is looking to improve his position but Devine isn't that keen on the idea. Requina prevents Devine from taking his back. Requina is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Devine dominating with strikes here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Devine lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Requina gets back to half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Devine seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Devine changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Requina tries to avoid it but Devine manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Requina to the ground. Requina escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Devine stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Requina. Devine blocks a leg kick. Requina scores with a leg kick.
Requina fails with the takedown and Devine decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Requina's guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Requina will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Douglass Devine overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Requina seems keen to control Devine's posture. Devine pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Requina is keeping the position for now.
