Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wanderlei Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robbie Lawler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wanderlei Silva has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Daniel Blasius and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good work by Lawler as he checks the leg kick.
Silva tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lawler fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Silva pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lawler shoots in for a takedown but Silva shows good takedown defense.
Silva misses with a head kick.

and Lawler counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Lawler.
Silva is looking for a triangle but Lawler pushes his legs off easily.
Lawler gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Lawler feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Silva working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lawler doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lawler manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Lawler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Lawler trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Lawler lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Silva escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lawler gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Silva working for a triangle but Lawler defends it easily.
Silva is breathing heavily.
Lawler stands up and waves to Silva to follow him.
Lawler darts in and clinches Silva up against the ropes.

Lawler stalling.
Silva wants to break free but Lawler has control.
Silva jumps guard but Lawler stands there with Silva around his waist. Silva gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Lawler breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Silva misses with a kick to the body.
Silva stalks Lawler and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lawler's face. Lawler staggers backwards, shaken.
A head kick by Silva misses
and Lawler counters with a nice double leg into side control. Silva won't be happy with that.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lawler is trying to move to mount but Silva reverses beautifully and ends up in Lawler's guard.
Silva wanted to stand there but Lawler had control of the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lawler trying to keep a closed guard but Silva is proving a slippery customer.
Lawler wants to sweep here but Silva controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Silva wants to get up but he can't break Lawler's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Lawler wants to control the position but Silva says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lawler is trying to control but Silva passes into side control!
Lawler sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Lawler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lawler wants to control but Silva is keeping busy.
Silva prevents Lawler from improving his position.
Silva trying to control the action but Lawler is working from the bottom.

Silva wants to free his trapped foot but Lawler is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Silva seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Lawler is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
